While Nesmith and IJax are good players, I think SAC is overpaying and says no.

For Indy, Siakam would absolutely feast with that much shooting around him, but that Indy rotation just doesn't have enough D. Nesmith's role defending wings is badly needed in that starting line-up.

This deal puts Indy almost $10m into the tax, when they backfill the two emptied roster spots with minimum guys….maybe worse, depending on what Cam Johnson’s unearned incentives are and if they’d turn likely in Indy. Can’t consider it at all for that reason.

It even puts Indy pretty close to the second apron, which Indy is hard capped at, as Indy has unlikely incentives for Myles and McConnell, and CamJo would bring a lot more along.

As is, I think Indy would just prefer Nesmith to Johnson? Straight up? That salary difference is huge, and Nesmith is a really solid 3 and D g/f. And there’s hope that Jarace Walker takes over that SF spot as the big small forward in the next year.

Is Nesmith supposed to be better than Huerter in a measurable sense? I know Kevin is the better playmaker. I don’t know enough about Jackson to comment, though I’d doubt he would be the difference

We’re probably saving the draft stockpile for meaningful additions
