Smart on Utah.

Very very questionable on Warriors front unless there’s something that hasn’t been mentioned by mainstream media which is possible.

Good for both parties.
Here's a statue of Makannen in case Jazz need one in the future

I read on X that there are no options.

Maybe he'll keep improving and prove that he's worth a Brandon Podziemski after all.

It’s probably the right move. It’s probably not too much money with rising cap.

But I still question this approach to try to tank for a top 5 pick while having a guy you can’t trade until the next draft who is at worst a third fiddle on a contender.

Ont he Hoop Collective they said he;s eligible to 42 or 43M in salary this year, Woj reporting makes it only 36, this leaves 14M + room exception for the Jazz.

The Warriors know Curry is not nearly good enough to win a title as a #1 anymore and don't want to shovel away picks to pretend.

It's why the Lakers have done nothing this offseason as well. They're posturing about contending, but they know it's over.

Lot of money for a guy who has never played more than 66 games and has never won more than 41 games before. Then again with the rising cap perhaps it will be a solid deal in the coming years. Good for him though.

Actually Woj just tweeted he's getting the full $42+ mil for this coming season. I'll take his word over Hoop Collective.

Lauri selling high on himself. Good move.

Still think they should have traded him a year ago. But okay. Now they hope he has a brilliant season statistically but that doesn't translate to wins and teams will somehow think he's not empty calories and still give up a premium for him? Or they honestly believe he's part of a core that currently has no other pieces?

Should have traded him. This will not end well.

Who wants Jerami Grant realistically now?

I feel like Utah has to swing now. Going to be hard to tank unless they frequently sit him unnecessarily. Even after this year, it's going to be hard to trade him at ~$42 mil from a salary matching standpoint. A lot of those middle-value $20-30 mil contracts are being phased out.

Might as well go after Ingram for pennies at this point since they were reportedly willing to trade for a lesser player in Mikal.

Which I would think/hope Cleveland would match.

You mean a Podziemski, 3 first rounders, multiple pick swaps and 2nd rounders.

Many of these possibly being during a post Steph decline. Should they have thrown in Kuminga and the Chase Center deed to for a guy who is a great fit but likely never a #1 option on a contending team?

The full package Ainge wanted was never logical for GS to do. It wasn’t Podz in a vacuum. It was Podz in, at least a pick out.

Ainge not settling for less than the full package was logical from Utah’s side. Especially after how the picks for Mitchell and Gobert are looking. I’m sure Ainge and the Utah office were counting on Mitchell to be on the first thing smoking out of Cleveland at the first opportunity. Now he’s re-signed and it looks like the Cavs aren’t going anywhere and those picks drop in value.

Minnesota’s ownership issues might lead to some strife there, but at least right now, don’t look like the T-Wolves are going anywhere either and those picks value may not be great.

A possible Lauri/Kuminga/Podz (and some cap room) may not be much to worry about, but why risk it (knowing Lacob will spend) if you’re Ainge?
