revisiting Beal to LAL

PHX TRADES: Beal
LAL TRADES: Rui, Vandy, Russell, Reddish, Lewis
Lakers still need shooting and a consistent 3rd scorer........Beal gives them all that
The Suns have an abundance of SGs....Booker, Beal, Allen....this helps the logjam in the backcourt and give them much needed depth

Lakers give up all the forward depth they have for maybe a slight upgrade over Dlo? Seems like an awful deal for them and the Lakers making the same mistake as the Suns in trading for a name instead of a player.

I think PHX needs to attach some assets to move Beal.
LAL are over the 2nd Apron so any trade with aggregated players going out needs to result in them being under the Apron (because the trade will hard cap them) with room to sign players to get to 14 man roster. Does the proposed trade accomplish that?

Beal’s no trade clause is beyond toxic. No team is eager to trade for him. Even when he is playing well he isn’t worth his money, and he doesn’t play that well that often.

Beal is a bad fit and too expensive for them Lakers.

I don't see this making any sense for the Suns.
1. Suns would have to waive a bunch of players to make this trade happen
2. None of the Suns weaknesses get addressed. Rui would be a nice back-up PF, but Russell isn't needed with Tyus and Monte playing the PG, which leaves Vando, Reddish and Lewis who will be end of bench guys.
I'd much rather just keep Beal than trade him for the sake of trading him.

I think this is bad for the Lakers, and therefore I love it. Also, how many roster spots does Suns have? 5 for 1 trades are complicated because of roster space restrictions.

Neither Suns or Lakers can take back more money than they are sending out so this needs a 3rd team

The Lakers would be running this season with 11 guys and the 3 two way contract players. Not to mention they might have to rely on Hayes and Woods to contribute, which is not a good thing

Pass, he makes too much
If we want a max or near max guy that won't cost us anything but salaries, I rather get Lavine
He is 7m cheaper and a couple years younger
May even be a better fit if Lavine is motivated, healthy and playing like he did in 2019-2022
He had 1 season, I think 2020-2021, where he shot 48% on catch and shoot 3s. That is higher than Beal's peak
Also rather go after BI

Beal was embarrassing in the playoffs. Not sure he can ever recover at his age.
You can take Beal out of Washington but you can't take Washington out of Beal.

Good lord.
Not even sure Beal is an upgrade over Russell. And his contract is toxic as hell.

Should we mention that PHX has to cut players for this to go through... Oof

Think the new CBA killed the idea of lakers getting a highly paid third star. Lakers need a player on a 40ish million a year salary for trade math to work.

No Lakers would be giving up all their depth here. At this point of his career is Beal markedly better than DLo, Vandy, Rui? There would be no way to fill in the rest of their roster especially since Beal (and LBJ, AD) will all be missing games.
Lakers are $45k under the 2nd Apron. The Suns are well over the 2nd apron. These 2 teams cannot make direct trades with each other under the new CBA since both would need to take back less $ than they send out.

Yeah Beal’s contract makes Lavine look cheap. At this point Beal isn’t worth much more than what a generic one-dimensional spot up shooter makes.
