Lakers get CamJ, Simmons (buyout $5m MLE)
Lakers get CamJ and open space to offer Simmons a $5m deal. After losing playmakers for CamJ, Lakers need a PG and Simmons fits.

Nets get DLo, Vincent, LAL29FRP
Nets get an unprotected FRP for CamJ by taking on salaries that push them $5m over the tax. To combat this they orchestrate a buyout of Simmons).

Not sure if this is circumvention but assume it could be done without raising alarm.

Don’t see Simmons giving up sign and trade scenarios to get brought out.

LA would still be over the first apron after that trade, and as such, unable to sign any buyout players that made over the MLE before their buyout. They’d be unable to sign Simmons at all if he’s bought out, without getting under the first apron, where they’d be hard capped if they sign a buyout player like that.

Oh interesting, what if they signed him for a vet min?

Yup. Not at all.

First Apron Level Rules. In addition to the Tax Apron transaction rules in the current CBA, the following transaction rules will apply at the First Apron Level.
a. Signings – “Buyout” Players. Teams will be unable to sign a player during a Regular Season if he was waived during that Regular Season and had a pre- waiver Salary for that year greater than the amount of that year’s Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Salary Exception.

There's zero variation where the Nets are going to receive an unprotected FRP for Cameron Johnson with legitimate upside from the Lakers. None.

This would not be enough for BK to accept especially in a rebuild accumulating assets.

Who is offering an unprotected FRP with any legitimate upside for Cameron Johnson?
