Brooklyn trade: Schroder
LAL trade: Vincent, JHS
Why for LAL:improve backup PG with someone who did well last time around
Why for Brooklyn: get a prospect for taking on extra salary

This is the type of buy-low target Brooklyn should be after. I prefer JHS to 2nds.

Pass
Not b/c its even a bad deal, but we need ceiling raisers and need to use assets well and cap space well
Main targets for larger names and bigger contracts need to be: Lavine, Cam Johnson, Ingram
Smaller contract guys: A backup C or cheap young guys that may be getable with a 1st such as Tari Eason (depending on what other moves are made)

Vincent is better than Schroeder
Lakers only consider this at deadline if Vincent has season ending injury and JHS is still not ready for NBA

Schroeder, most of the Nets (if not all), and 9/10 NBA Scouts disagree with this comment.

No from Brooklyn. Lakers can keep Gabe since they like him so much, I don't like the contract or the talent exchange with Schröder.
JHS could be alright but I'm not convinced, finding out is not worth subtracting $16mil from our 2025 capspace.

Well the only actual proof we have is that Schröder was on the Lakers and they could have brought him back for the contract they gave Vincent but instead they chose Vincent.
Nothing clearer than that. An injury season for Vincent doesn't change that now he's healthy again.

The Lakers also let Caruso walk for nothing so I'm not sure that type of reasoning works. I'd buy the argument that they already have an expiring DLo and you really don't need both guys.

This is a bit different though, they chose THT over Caruso because of potential and both played for Lakers.
Schroeder just isn't a great player in NBA, FIBA he seems to do well. But I watched him quite a lot over the last few years and he's not even a backup level guy on a contender. Vincent started for a finals team, definitely far more comfortable keeping Vincent.

And as you can see, teams are often wrong.

Plus, they brought in Vincent because he was cheaper. Schroeder wanted a bigger contract, right? And then settled for similar salary later when it turned out he didn’t have much of a market? And it turned out that Schroeder got more than Vincent did, annually.

That was a different offseason. Lakers had Schroeder twice.

Yes they did. What do you mean? There was only one offseason they signed Vincent instead of Schroder, as you mentioned.

Oh I meant 2021 offseason is when Schroeder wanted most money. Then he went to Boston for $5m before Joong back to Lakers in 2022 for the vet minimum.

don't think nets have much interest in trading schroder now. deadline definitely, but for now i think they prefer to have someone who can help facilitate for thomas, clowney, wilson, claxton, etc to help those guys develop.
cam johnson and dfs are the guys that are very much out there. something around dfs for jhs is a fit.

He also went to Toronto for more money than LA paid Vincent in 2023.

The Lakers have already had Schroeder twice and he wasn't the answer either time.
I do think there are some potential trade matches between these teams but doubt Schroeder would be the target.

I have no idea that the Lakers do. But, they need more help fast. What do you think they do?
Can they even get a player like Cam Johnson like they need? Do they have enough assets?

For 2 months of his life, Vincent was a good player - even that brief peak was/is not better than what Schro on a consistent basis.

He is not better than Schroder but I would like to see what 2K says about this.
Let us look.
Schroder - 78
Gabe Vincent - 75
Not too far off. But, this would be like a protected 1st (1-10 or lottery) or maybe 2 2nds and cash away.
