MIL/NOP/POR/TOR - Lopez /Ingram/Ayton/Poetl
Just spitballing a trade here... don't think my team would go for it because of the tax implications, but would love to hear about how far off on value this trade is. Can adding draft picks fix this trade (guessing Portland would need some)?
Milwaukee Bucks trade:
Brook Lopez
Milwaukee Bucks receive:
Jakob Poetl
Bucks trade for a younger, more mobile C, on a cheaper long-term contract. Save ~$4 million in cap.
New Orleans Pelicans trade:
Brandon Ingram, Jordan Hawkins
New Orleans Pelicans receive:
Brook Lopez, Matisse Thybulle
New Orleans trades for 3-pt shooting, shotblocking C, as well as a defensive replacement for Ingram. Save ~$6 million in cap.
Portland Trailblazers trade:
Deandre Ayton, Matisse Thybulle
Portland Trailblazers receive:
Bruce Brown, Chris Boucher, Ochai Agbaji, Davion Mitchell
Portland receive expirings for Ayton.
Toronto Raptors trade:
Jakob Poetl, Bruce Brown, Chris Boucher, Ochai Agbaji, Davion Mitchell
Toronto Raptors receive:
Brandon Ingram, Deandre Ayton, Jordan Hawkins
Toronto Raptors make use of expirings and swap Poetl for Ayton to land Ingram. Use about $10 million in cap space (they are ~$10 million below the tax).

Pass for POR.
Don’t want any of those guys, under the cap, no need to dump him.

Nice job on this. Seems pretty fair and balanced all around. Id say the Hawkins for Thybulle part is a bit out of place for the Pels, but not egregious. I think youll mostly get responses about the Raptors not doing this since theyre more on a young development timeline in line for a tank season, and Ingram is a questionable fit with Barnes and Barrett. But incould see it if theyre better than expected at the deadline and want to make a splash.

I've noticed on nearly all your post replies, it's mostly "pass/ no way for Blazers." Do you ever like some trade ideas for your team? Or even better, do you ever create new, original trade ideas for people to discuss? I'm always curious about the posters who center their online fake trade activity to "my team says no."

Pelicans don't owe Hawkins in this exchange, I even think they are owed something, but given the Ingram situation is getting worse, they may go for it, BroLo is 36, he fits NOP like a glove, but Ingram is worth more IMO...
POR also owes value here, they get better contracts and better players.

Which of those guys is better than Ayton?
Brown is a useful but overpaid expiring and the other 3 are scrubs.

Brown, He's a top-6 rotation player on a contender, Ayton hasn't been that since 21, in 22 he had an argument with Monte over his effort in game 7, in 23 with Booker during the PO, Ayton is more overpaid than Brown, and has more years.
I'd much rather roll the dice with Agbaji on rookie scale contract than Thybulle on 11/yr.

Took out POR:
NO gets - Oly, Poeltl
- fills center need with variety.
TOR gets - Ingram, Landale, two future 2nds from Houston
- Ingram is the get, Landale because they need a big back.
HOU gets - DMitchell (or Ogbaji)
- HOU sends Landale (team option) and a second or two for a prospect (both still have some potential).

Thanks. I think maybe Hawkins and Mitchell can be dropped from the trade, and it would still work for everyone.
Ingram is questionable fit. He's not the perfect fit for the Raptors, who need defense and a floor spacer... but they also need a isolation scorer, but Ingram can provide some of that.

Brown is an overpaid bench guy. Useful on a contender.
Ayton is a starting center, despite your rhetoric.
Thybulle is an nba defensive player. Agbaji is a nothing.
Ayton is very overpaid, Thybulle slightly overpaid.

Lopez is just too much of a short term move for NO. Better off with a future asset for Ingram and taking their time to build. Lopez is likely in his last year of starting.

If (the big IF) Zion stays healthy, then NO is in a good spot to contend (with young guys beginning to hit and older guys not too old yet). So, I think BLo would be a great addition. Even if only for a year.

Taking Portland out would be great, but I think Toronto would want a better replacement for Poetl than Jock Landale if they are trading him.

Richaun Holmes started for the Wizards after the deadline, he is by definition a starting center, I don't know how much this really changes his value, I'll take proven 6th man on a champion over a starter that was dumped for terrible contracts...

Maybe Ayton goes to New Orleans and Lopez goes to Toronto?

What kind of draft compensation do you think would make this fair for Portland?

I don’t think Ayton has much value on his current contract. This is a salary dump for players POR would be unwilling/unable to resign. Not convinced there is any deal for Ayton that would satisfy all parties.
If Brown could have been moved for value it would already have happened. Boucher is garbage, Agbaji is cheaper garbage.

So in your mind, a trade for Ayton is not possible at all? Then I would ask that you don't post anymore in this thread, because this is about trade involving Ayton, and your oft repeated opinion contributes nothing.
