SAS trades: Devin Vassell, Zach Collins (~$43 million)
NOP trades: Brandon Ingram, Jordan Hawkins, 2026 NOP/MIL 1st (better), 2028 pick swap (SAS receives better of SAS/NOP 1st, NOP receives worse)
San Antonio swaps Vassell for a player who can scale to a second option + a really nice young guard who can spread the court for Ingram/Vassell, another first, and a swap with a bit of upside. If Ingram doesn't work out I don't think the downside is too bad here, as they'd still be getting Hawkins, a first, and a swap for Vassell.
New Orleans adds a floor-spacing center and a 2/3 who should form a really nice 3-man unit with Murphy and Jones. They'd have a ton of defensive versatility and good secondary creation in the backcourt.
Collins 24/Matkovic 14/Missi 10
Zion 32/Jones 10/JRE 6
Jones 22/Vassell 26
Murphy 32/Vassell 6/McCollum 10
Murray 32/McCollum 16/Alvarado
Wemby 32/Bassey 10/Mamu 6
Sochan 24/Barnes 14/Johnson 10
Ingram 32/Johnson 16
Hawkins 28/Castle 10/Branham 10
Castle 16/Paul 24/Wesley 8

I don't like this for SA, as Vassell is enough of a core guy not to make this move.
I also don't see Collins as really helping NO - he was terrible last year and probably isn't even a credible backup at this point.

I don't think the Spurs want to be good this season.

On the surface, this wouldn't feel like a bad deal for the Spurs. However, when you consider that:
1) Vassell just turned 24 and is signed for 5 years on a descending deal that will pay him a projected 15%, 13% and 13% of the cap the last 3 years of his contract.
2) Ingram is on an expiring contract and expects the max (which he isn't worth) or likely walks
3) Spurs don't really need draft capital, they have a pretty juicy war chest of picks in terms of both quantity and quality.
So all in all, I'd pass acknowledging that it'd be an enticing offer if not for the contractual situation of Ingram.

If the Pels were willing to give up a pick let alone swap rights to get rid of Ingram, he’d be gone already. That’s a lot of equity to get off of Ingram, who is at the very worst, an expiring contract.
And Vassell has value but New Orleans wants to trade Ingram in part to free up a starting slot for Murphy, not to replace him with another wing, so it doesn’t make sense to give up assets for a guy they don’t need.

I think Pels want to lose more games than win next year. Let Wemby play with the Pointgod, compete in some games, but you cant have too many good pieces, next year draft looks really good.
And wont be hard to Spurs sign Ingram next FA, if they want, as it looks like no one wants to pay him.

Spurs would have zero interest in this.

No Ingram trade makes sense unless a team is looking to 1) Pay him the deal he wants or 2) Clear some salary with a big expiring
I also dont see a team like the Spurs taking him on. He's up for his 3rd contract and hasn't bought into defense. This is who he is and teams aren't investing major money into faux stars after the 2nd contract.

Hawkins can’t get playing time now not sure how he moves to a starter.

This seems pretty situational, though. When Murphy went down Hawkins was very good, I think he's a borderline starting caliber player. Maybe better as a 6th man long-term, but can't know unless he gets minutes. I'd pretty happily receive him in a trade if we lost some of our guard depth (which...we need to, lol).
