LaVine to LAC: Bulls/Clippers/Pistons

Ill offer this idea for the Clippers to stay competitive in acquiring LaVine

To Los Angeles (Trade Powell, Mann, Tucker, 1st, 2nds)
-Zach LaVine (3 years, $138 million - 3rd year P.O.)

To Chicago (Trade LaVine, waive Craig)
-Norm Powell (2 years, $39.7 million)
-Terance Mann (1 year, $11.4 million)
-Wendell Moore Jr. (1 year, $2.7 million) - waive
-2029 Clippers or Sixers 1st round pick (Sixers right to swap with LAC, 1-3 protected)

To Detroit (Trade Moore)
-PJ Tucker (1 year, $11.5 million)
-2030 Clippers or Utah 2nd round pick (Utah right to swap with LAC)
-2031 Clippers 2nd round pick

Why?
-The Clippers add a 3rd wheel in LaVine as the Clippers look to stay relevant in WC. They can fill out rest of roster with VM guys

Harden/Hyland/Porter Jr.
LaVine/Dunn/Christie
Jones Jr./Coffey/FA?
Leonard/Batum/FA?
Zubac/Bamba/Jones

-The Bulls get a veteran 2 guard replacement, a expiring contract they can flip again in Mann, salary relief and a 1st for LaVine

White/Ball/Carter
Powell/Dosunmu/Duarte/Bitim
GIddey/Mann/Terry
Williams/Buzelis/Phillips
Vucevic/Smith

-The Pistons leverage cap space to land a veteran PF to help culturally while picking up 2 2nds

Cunningham/Sasser
Hardaway/Ivey/Beasley
Thompson/Holland/Fontechhio/Klintman
Harris/Reed/Tucker
Duren/Stewart

Bulls need more picks not for what you'll scream value but to accept this.

At this point the term is guard glut. Lavine is most likely starting at the SF and Giddey (PG get the news) and White start at guard with Dosunmu behind them,

So you're sending them Powell who at 6-3 is not a SF and Mann who likewise isn't a SF. So you're making the rotation way off balanced. Then you compound that waiving Torrey Craig who can at least play the PF. I guess people are going to have to see that Buzelis at about 195 pounds is not an NBA PF today, Julian Phillips with a year of experience is going to be ahead of him and nobody is sure how Lonzo Ball comes back.

The on the floor consequences of a trade matter more than the salaries shuffled around

The Bulls shopped LaVine hard this summer and there were no takers.

Take out the picks from LAC, have CHI use the POR 1st and a 2nd or two to incentivize Detroit here, and I think it is more even. This is interesting IMO because it at least helps LAC replace George's scoring.

I agree-Bulls have to add the Port 1st and the two 2nds they got for DDR-it's fair then
Powell is a decent player, and Mann is expiring and harmless. Maybe they can move Mann for another expiring deal (or take Tucker and keep a 2nd)

Not much reason for detroit to take on dead money for late 2nds. Pretty easy pass at this point. Much rather keep the flexibility for the trade deadline.

Clippers chose to add a first instead of Mann for Harden.

But then decide to add both for LaVine?

Yeah, this isn't even close for the Clippers. Would need to send those same amount of picks to the Clips instead of the other way around, and even then, wouldn't be sure if I'd be down with it.

Just exclude the Pistons. Exclude Tucker. Clips keep the second round picks. Unless Moore has to be there for salary, but don't the clips have someone at 2.7ish?

Or Bulls throw in Carter in return as well.

You always get way too into positional logistics. They could easily flip Powell, or Mann, or both.

If the Bulls were offered this much salary relief, valuable NBA role players AND a 1st for LaVine, they would accept this in 1 second and sort everything else out after.

I think a LaVine trade has to involve Portland so that Bulls can give that FRP back for value in the trade.

Bulls get Ayton

Blazers get Tucker, Powell, Mann, POR25FRP

Clippers get LaVine, Rupert, Walker

Powell, Mann, Tucker for Lavine and Craig

Clips are win-now, and with Leonard out they get a top scoring guard to play next to Harden

Bulls cut a ton of $

This trade feels more on the mark from the Clippers perspective.

Add port but I like this better
Ayton, Tucker, Mann to Chi
Lavine and port pieces to LAC
Port 1st, Vuc, Powell to Blazers

The deal was Powell/PJT/Westbrook, and the fact it didn't happen mean Clippers aren't interested.

PJ requests a trade on the plane ride to Detroit. Anyway, we dropped dumb amounts of money on Harris and Hardaway with nothing but 2rps in return.

He’d have already negotiated the terms of his buyout by the time this trade was leaked if it happened

Yeah the Bulls aren't going to do this trade for a draft pick the next front office duo will get to make and they're definitely not attaching picks to dump Zach. He'd already be gone somewhere if they were willing and dumb enough to do that.
