Chicago & Memphis: Craig for Aldama

Post#1 » by drosestruts » Thu Oct 3, 2024 8:12 pm

Blockbuster I know

Bulls in: Santi Aldama

Memphis in: Torrey Craig

Bulls could use some additional big man depth with currently only having Vucevic and Smith, Aldama provides additional depth/size. Bulls have also been acquiring younger players this offseason and this continues that trend.

Memphis has already had some early injuries to young wings. Torrey Craig is a proven vet who can play on the wing providing 3 & d. Between Edey, JJJ, and Clarke Memphis can afford to give up some of the depth they have at the center spot.

Do you know who is Santi Aldama or you just picked that name and the corresponding trade value randomly?

Please enlighten me about Santi Aldama and how he's such a treasure and a huge part of Memphis' future with his stellar career TS% of 55%

He's like 3rd on your depth chart at center at best and is likely to see a steep decline in minutes this season

1st he plays primarily at PF not a 3rd string center, and his minutes are likely going to range from 15 to 25 minutes this season. There is a good chance we plan on resigning him and be part of our front court rotation going forward. He had a great Olympics and Memphis fans are really excited to see if that play is going to carry over. But if GG Jackson or LaRavia step up their game we might consider moving off of him at the deadline when we are at full health.

Craig would very likely be out of our rotation at full health we have a lot of options that we like at the 3/4, Smart will get a lot of minutes there, then Vince Williams and GG Jackson would play ahead of him at the 3 as well. Kennard will get minutes at SF too. Vince is suppose to be back near the start of the season and is ticketed to get 25-30 minutes for us. Craig would battle Konchar for 10th-11th man minutes and is not a need at all. IMO we would opt for the best picks we can get for him over Craig if we wanted to flip him.

TPE and a 2nd would be the trade here if there is interest.

Craig is 3-&-D and career low volume 35% 3pt shoter with negative DBPM and soon to be 34yo. Easy no

Grizz are not trading Santi for a downgrade in talent. We can get away with Santi playing 4/5/3. If we move Santi it will be for assets not a guy we can pay a 2nd for especially on the wing.

Aldama is worth more than just a swap for Craig. Craig doesn't get minutes in MEM if they're healthy.

This trade would work if Craig was the same age as Santi IMO.

But thats not reality.

Yeah I mean Torrey Craig is JAG at this point. No reason for Memphis to give up a young guy who can play for him.

Agreed. I think Aldama is very much a great 7th/8th man who can spot start while Craig is a great end of rotation 9th/10th guy. Both can help a team, but Aldama is just more valuable.
