Blazers-Lakers-Pelicans

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Mon Oct 14, 2024 2:45 am

Blazers get Rui, Reeves, LAC25SRP, LAL25SRP
Blazers give RW3, Reath

Scoot, Sharpe, Deni, Grant, Ayton -- Simons, Thybulle, Rui, Toumani, Clingan -- Banton, Rupert, Reeves, Kris, Walker
Blazers stay under tax, they pick up Rui as a younger wing that can stay with team timeline, Reeves is a rookie prospect and the SRPs get them value. With Rui they probably look to move Grant.

Lakers get Ingram, Reath
Lakers give DLo, Rui, JHS, LAC25SRP, LAL25SRP, LAL28swap

Reaves, Christie, Ingram, LeBron, Davis -- Vincent, Knecht, Vando, Wood, Reath -- Bronny, Reddish, Lewis, Hayes
Lakers upgrade their lineup to help contention, give up some pick captial.

Pelicans get RW3, DLo, JHS, LAL28swap
Pelicans give Ingram, Reeves

Murray, CJ, Herb, Zion, RW3 -- Alvarado, DLo, Hawkins, TM3, Theis -- JHS, Reeves, Green, Karlo, Missi
Pelicans move Ingram on, get a starting C, 6th man in DLo for scoring punch, a prospect on JHS and an unprotected swap option in 2028.

Easy yes for Portland. Would probably just reroute Rui, but I like Reeves and the picks.

I don't think Ingram is the right guy for LA, but then again, I'm not sure who is.

I don't think Ingram is the right guy for New Orleans, either, but I am underwhelmed by what they get here. If his market is cool and the best asset on offer is that pick swap, maybe they do it.

DLo and JHS feel extremely wasted on the Pelicans. This is really an expiring contract, an extremely injured center, a deep-bench prospect, and a nice swap for Ingram. I'm not sure that's enough, though I think the general idea is a good one. Maybe DLo and JHS could go to Toronto for Poeltl? Not sure he's the best fit next to Zion, but he is a good passer and maybe the playmaking could unlock some interesting things at time.

Or, is there any nice veteran piece the Pelicans could get by sending their entire end of this deal elsewhere? Maybe that fourth team would like Rui, too.

RWIII is currently unable to play due to a hamstring issue. There's absolutely no reason for the Pelicans to trade for him until he's gotten and stayed on the floor for at least 15 games.

Also, what are they going to do with DLo and CJ?

Way too good for POR, way too bad for NOP.

I don’t follow college ball closely so I had to look up who Reeves was. Nearly 24 year old rookie who was mid-2nd round in this draft and hasn’t looked good in pre-season doesn’t appeal to me much. The future 2nds seem more valuable. Rui too.

I know Reeves isn't an exciting get, but he's worth a look, which is why he was drafted. I have a weakness for big-time scorers at major schools who fly under the radar due to their age or perceived lack of elite physical tools. Only takes hitting on one, like a Jodie Meeks (also UK), Marcus Thornton (LSU), or Isaiah Thomas (UW), to have yourself a bargain rotation player.

I kind of like idea of DLo on Pels as strong depth.

Guard rotation: Murray, CJ, Alvarado, DLo
Forward rotation: Zion, Herb, TM3, Hawkins
Center rotation: RW3, Theis

Maybe? My worry is that the rotation is so guard heavy after that. You have Murray/CJ/DLo/Alvarado/JHS who can all play the 1. You also have Murphy/Hawkins/DLo/CJ who can all play the 2. Some of this is offset because the small forward rotation is suddenly Murphy/Herb and Herb will also play backup 4, but now the forward rotation is super thin if anyone gets injured. Center is also still thin, even though Williams is an improvement. Basically, there would be 6 players position locked at the 1/2 (Murray, CJ, DLo, Alvarado, Hawkins, JHS) and only three rotation quality players at the 3/4 with a very injury prone guy at the 4 in Zion. Center is improved, right now they don't have a starting caliber center at all and a healthy Williams is, but it is still kind of thin.

Murray 32/Russell 16/Alvarado 0
Hawkins 24/CJ 24/JHS 0
Murphy 32/Herb 16/Green
Zion 32/Herb 16/Earl
Williams 24/Theis 18/Matkovic 6/Missi

I think they are much better off if Russell can be turned into frontcourt depth.
