Dwight Powell for your bench PG

Disclaimer, this is not a Mavs fan hating on Powell. I actually respect the guy's hustle, work ethic, and what he has contributed to the team. But Dinwiddie looks washed and Exum is forever hurt, so Dallas really needs a backup PG. Dwight is the only guy that can really be traded now as he wasn't recently signed and he doesnt make as much as a guy like say Maxi. Markieff and Maxi should theoretically be able to play any minutes at the 5 that Lively or Gaff do not.
So, are there any teams willing to trade a 2nd or 3rd PG for Powell? He's as good as vet leader a team can ask for, very strong PnR guy, hustler, but has some flaws so wouldnt be a guy playing significant minutes.

Jevon Carter flying southwest from Chicago.
He's not a greet playmaker but can handle the ball, he was a decent 3pt shooter for MIL but never got on track with the Bulls and ended up deep on the bench. Luka or Kyrie have the ball in their hands so Carter can mostly shoot from the line

With Towns traded, MIN is suddenly shallow behind Gobert at center. Naz is more of a big wing, Randle is Randle, and then they have a slimmed down Luka Garza.
Unfortunately, as an apron team, MIN can’t take on a player that makes more than they send out, so to add Powell, that would mean sending out Nickiel Alexander-Walker at $4.3. NAW was great for what the Wolves do, and they could actually afford to send him out with the addition of DiVincenzo, but he is much more valuable than Powell, and he isn’t a true PG. Maybe there’s a deal out there that could work like
DAL GIVES: Powell
DAL GETS: Comparable Back Up PG
MIN GIVES: NAW
MIN GETS: Powell + Value
THIRD TEAM GIVES: Back Up PG + Value
THIRD TEAM GETS: NAW

FTR I don't think Minny should do this, but I'd scrap every SRP available and send them to MIN, and take NAW to the Mavs, he's a perfect fit...

I’m sure his defense would be fantastic next to Kyrie or Luka. Ditto to other rival contenders like DEN or PHX. He said he focused on his play-making this summer, but that remains to be seen.
Wolves would probably need something more back than seconds to help a rival like this. But I mentioned it because financially, Powell is one of the few back up centers that MIN can afford.

I think they have 2 2nds this year, but it's somewhat hard to decipher on the Realgm future picks listing.

They supposedly got one from CHA for Green, and have late one next year (worst of DAL/BOS).
But they can scrap some 2nds by selling 25 1st swap...

NAW is sub MLE player, and a FA next year so whoever has him willl have to compete with half the league, I have hard time seeing him fethhing a 1st.

Best we could offer would be something like GP2 for Exum and Powell, but that doesn't really do anything for Dallas because GP2 is basically just the rich man's version of Exum (POA defender, not a real PG, injury issues)

Davion Mitchell for Powell and PHI or DEN 2025 2nd rounder.

Anyone they can aggregate? Jevon Carter feels like a reasonable target.

I rather just keep Powell and reunite with DSJ for the min than take on that Carter contract. Fultz too.

He's too slow and not a good enough passer to be a pg, even off the bench... kidding, I know what you meant. Really not sure what his value is, maybe a Corey Joseph?

CoJo can’t be traded until December, I believe. I’d assume they want someone sooner?
But yeah, feels like it’d be a solid Fultz spot for the minimum if all were willing? Does Dallas have a spot/apron space?

Disagree with OP on need. I mean if you employ Luka and Kyrie with all of Dinwiddie, Exum, and Hardy behind them plus wasting a two way on another guy, you need to be able to get by.
And for what you could get for Powell you could have just not signed Morris and signed a street FA. But I think they are going to have to have Spencer and Hardy prove they can't handle 20 mpg between them before they make a move on yet another PG.

Javon Carter & Davion Mitchell are the names and caliber of players I was expecting. But both make more, so think Dal would be owed incentive for the former, and I have zero clue what the latter's value is. But I wouldn't add to DP for a Davion swap.
