WHY FOR DET? The Pistons take on McCollum’s deal but get Hawkins as compensation. Hawkins can be a very valuable young floor spacer to grow with their core. McCollum can also provide extra floor spacing and be a great veteran mentor for the young guys (similar to what Harris is providing from the forward spot).

WHY FOR LAC? With Paul George leaving in FA, it leaves the Clippers with little chance at a title. With that in mind, they trade the 35 year old Harden and 33 year old Leonard for the 27 year old Ingram, 28 year old Murray, and 3 unprotected 1st round picks. This allows them to push back their timeline and collect some more picks while still putting a competitive team on the floor in Ballmer’s new stadium.

How many games do you expect Kawhi to play over the duration of his contract? Consider he is "out indefinitely" to start this season.

I don't think I would trade Brandon Ingram for Kawhi Leonard.

So I would have picks, going to NOP, in order to balance out this part alone.

Agreed. This is wildly off, but I suspect Harden still has some value, just not to the Pels who already have CJ and Murray. I also think Stewart isn't good enough to start and currently makes too much as a backup with his skill set.

Stewart is solid, his contract is basically a MLE, but Pistons decided to pay Tobias to play PF, so Stewart comes off the bench. But he would be a rotation player at minimum on any team in the league.

But the big question to me is what is CJs value when you consider that contract?

Stewart isn't a PF. He's an undersized center and not one who should be starting on a good team. He's a backup. He makes more than the MLE and will continue to over the course of the next two seasons. Also, now that Duran has matured a bit, and T. Harris has joined the Pistons, Stewart looks pretty meh.

In any event, I don't see why the Pels would trade CJ after Murray broke his hand and with Ingram expiring. Maybe they'll look to move him as an expiring next summer if they end up trading Ingram at the deadline, but having him as a sixth man this season before Murphy's extension kicks in is pretty valuable.

Kawhi is a negative contract at this point. I dont see anyone giving positive value for him. The pelicans would have Zero interest in this trade

Pistons want Cade to be the guy and I don't think CJ 's value is as an off-ball player.

What? CJ is an incredible off-ball player. 75% of his 3s the last 2 years are assisted.The only time CJ's is really on ball is when Zion or BI are off the court

Clippers are like 6 good unprotected 1st rounders short there. No1 is taking dead money in Kawhi and even worse then dead money James Harden. Leonard doesnt play for the Clippers, imagine what would be when he would need to dress up for unluckiest franchise in sports history...
I dont know how you even came to idea to put 3 1st rounders (Unprotected) and Jordan Hawkins in there. This is not 2017, this is 2024, end of it almost...

There were some bad Pelicans trades in last 10 years on this board, but i think this tops all of them...

I do not understand why everyone thinks CJ's contract is some huge anchor. He's owed $33.3M this year (when we are no longer over the tax) and $30.6M next year. The Pelicans value CJ for his spacing and his leadership both of which help Zion immensely.

CJ was a top 3 perimeter shooter last year and a 20 ppg scorer. He's slightly overpaid, but he's not this huge negative that the Pels are looking to use assets to dump which seems to be the view of many here. Elite shooters are never cheap.

The only scenario where Pels dump CJ is if they make an about face on BI and decide to extend him or they trade BI for player(s) that put the Pels heavy into the tax next year.

As for the Clippers portion, I cannot see any scenario where the Pelicans would trade for Kawhi or Harden, much less one where they give up BI's expiring, Dejounte (who they just moved a very good prospect and two 1sts to get), Hawkins, and 3 unprotected 1sts. Clippers fans are in for a world of hurt if they think their broke stars retain this kind of value.

You are not getting 1st for kawhi Leonard he is a bad contract and a diva
