Fix the Suns center position!

Suns look really good. Still have to fix the turnover & ego issues but the biggest concern is Nurkic. Realistically, we can’t get off his contract this year. A salvageable solution to me is a center committee. I’m just asking for a center who can stay on the floor in crunch time and not having KD out there playing center so not putting 2031 1st on the table. Of course not Dunn or Oso either.

San Antonio Spurs receive:
- Grayson Allen ($15,625,000)
- Denver 2026 second rounder
Brooklyn Nets receive:- Suns '31 top 3 protected pick
- Jusuf Nurkić ($18,125,000)
- Zach Collins ($16,741,200)
Total incoming: $34,866,200Phoenix Suns receive:- Nic Claxton ($27,556,817)
Suns gets a switchable defensive big
Spurs get a player upgrade and second rounder to facilitate the trade.
Nets get a first rounder with limited protection. Nic Claxton seems to have fallen out of the starting line-up (not sure if this because of his injury, or because he has fallen out of favor).

I thought it wasn't aggregating salaries if a third team is involved.

Hornets offer the expiring contracts of Nick Richards and Cody Martin for Nurkic, and if you want to wait until Dec 15, take Taj Gibson with you as well.
Getting Richards is not really any different than if you signed JaVale McGee off the streets, but you get Nurk's final year off the books, and can either use Richards+Martin's contracts as trade bait next year or decline them for cap relief.

Aggregating is combining two players salaries to receive a player you couldn’t otherwise acquire. Since neither Allen nor Nurkic can individually match for Claxton’s salary, you’d have to aggregate them together to salary match for Claxton. Doesn’t matter how many other teams are involved.

it would be amusing if Nurkic + someone like Grayson Allen was traded for Ayton

Likely about the best OP could expect with the salary and asset restrictions.

Yeah, it’s too bad the buyout market is so restrictive too. Otherwise they could’ve potentially added someone like Steven Adams midseason.

What 2nds do the Suns have to trade? Have to give to get. If Dunn, Oso and the '31 1st are off the table, then 2nds would be the only other assets to use. Unless you wanted to move a rotation piece which I don't get the impression the OP does.
Okogie plus 2nds is the only logical trade package left after the OP's post. Centers who can "stay out there in crunch time" and actually have a team be happy about that are actually pretty rare. I doubt anyone gives one up for such a paltry trade offer of Okogie/2nds. With that type of package, you're most likely getting someone even worse than Nurkic which still leaves room to fill regular season minutes but won't be someone you're good with playing crunch time.

That’s a good trade to me and exactly what I wanted. 7 more weeks.

Because realistically, I don’t think the Suns can get a fair deal & trades restrictions are brutal. Might as well hold on to the tradable assets they have. I just don’t think moving off of him then year is smart. He can be a backup. Also anybody who can run and defend is better than him on this roster. Bud wants a stretch 5, that’s not happening. Someone stuck on the bench who can catch a lob and defend a little can go a long way.

I don’t know much about him. He was putting up numbers when everyone was out. Is he athletic & can he defend? If so y’all can have him for Lee & a 2nd

He is athletic enough and can defend decently well - but he is mostly a floor spacer.
PDX just simply doesnt have room for him with Ayton, Donovan and RWIII at C.
He is either a low end backup or high end 3rd stringer - but I dont see many better options for the cost (Filler and SRP). He is also locked in super cheap for a few years - which seems appealing looking at PHX cap sheet.

+1
The net effect of the second apron rules is that a team like Phoenix cannot acquire anyone who makes more than the highest-paid player they're sending out, regardless of how you structure the deal.
