A package around your teams best player/ asset for Giannis. Would you do it?

Would you trade your teams best player or asset along with other assets for Giannis? Who would that be? And if not what package would you trade for him?

I doubt the Bucks look to move him but I am curious about the what ifs.

For my team, the Celtics…I wouldn’t break up the defending champs, but as a hypothetical say if they don’t make the finals this year…. I would not trade Tatum, but I would a package around Brown…though it pains me. Brown and late picks is probably not enough for Milwaukee though.

Trading your best player for Giannis is generally counterproductive unless that player is demanding out.

Realistically if he’s available it’s a 2 team race:

OKC: Jalen Williams + Wallace + All the picks

HOU: Sengun or Green + Reed or Amen + All the picks

Giannis is 29 so if you're trading for him now you better be in position to contend over the course of the next four years *after* giving up assets. That's not something my team (the Pistons) could do if they gave away enough to get Giannis (which they probably couldn't to begin with). So that's a no from me.

First it would have to be a team that could field a competitive team after losing the best player (filler) and picks.

An intriguing option would be Giannis for Zion and filler.
Houston could be an option.

I think OKC needs to include Chet.
I’ll have to look at Houston picks but I don’t think that’s enough.
If I am OKC I am not looking at a trade like that.

I get that perspective for sure.

It's hard to say the Bulls have a best player. Zach Lavine would be it and he's got the contract to start matching. If the Bulls add in Coby White it gives the Bucks a potential back court but they have plenty of guards. They have no extra picks to add and their own in maybe 27 so that's not much.

The Bulls would end up with Giannis next to Vucevic and Patrick Williams, Giddey and Dosunmu with a healthy Ball so it would be a very different looking team. A winning team? I can't say

Minnesota fan, and as much as I love him, I’d trade Ant.

(Pausing for the gasps)

The gap between a top 15 player and a top 3 player is huge. The goal is to try to win a championship, and they rarely happen without a first team All NBA player. Giannis is a risk, but all championships are based on risks, and a lot of things have to go right. There is also a risk of a team NOT adding Giannis when they get the chance, and championship windows close, or expected ones in the future usually don’t happen. If a real GM, who’s job is often on the line, bails on adding Giannis because they think their young Top 40 is the one who will turn into a future Top 3 player, then that is its own kind of risk.

Sabonis/Murray

Giannis/Fox/DDR/Monk and see what happens.

I don’t see OKC adding Chet or all the picks.

I appreciate the realistic take on what it requires to trade for Giannis.

I can’t see that getting it done. Can SAC include unprotected picks?
So you wouldn’t do a package around Fox?

No.

POR is too far away from relevance to make a deal for GA.

giannis and gobert together would be sick on D but pretty bad on offense

what else are you willing to add to bridge the gap between the 2 though

Is it me or is super hard to find a trade that works (value wise and $$ wise) for a maxed player on a team over the 2nd apron?

Charlotte would be notably worse than Milwaukee if we traded LaMelo and more for Giannis. A Giannis to Charlotte trade is fun to dream about but the timelines don't line up at all.

Drafting a raw rookie like Salaun, who is probably looked at as a zero until he isn't, really puts a crater in what we can actually offer in a trade.

We can put it in.
Small ball of:

Murray
Hawkins
Jones
Murphy
Antetokounmpo

would be awesome IMO.
Missi is looking better then i thought to start, CJ of the bench, nice.
But im pretty sure Bucks wouldnt want Zion if they are trading Giannis, unless there is a 3rd team involved.

Yes.

I would offer Sengun as a center piece.
