Giannis for KAT

Post#1 » by rambo_ortega » Mon Nov 4, 2024 2:33 am

Bucks Get:
Towns
OG

Towns/Portis/OG/Middleton/Dame

Probably the best value that the Bucks could get and still contend with Dame. This is still a very good team.

Knicks Get:
Giannis
Lopez
Connaughton

In my opinion, the Knicks are better with more defense than offense, so replacing KAT's offense with the defense of Giannis will make them a championship contender. They also keep the Nova boys

Is that post-trade Bucks team a contender, as the OP implies?

I don’t see it.

Pissed of Bucks fans incoming.
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

KAT makes more than Giannis with a slightly newer supermax. MIL is over the first apron, and can’t take back more salary than it sends out. Since they can’t aggregate salary either, no Giannis trade can be for a player making more money than he does.

No point trying to trade Giannis and still contend, since they aren't contending now anyway and the new CBA prevents most of the trades that would make it work.

Best hope is to find a GM who will give you assets for Dame first and then trade Giannis later, since that first GM will get fired and never work in basketball again so it's not like you're burning any bridges.

I don't want to keep asking you to stop doing this. Seems easy for you to just avoid Giannis threads. I get you hate the idea of it. I would too. Heck, I do too as a non-Bucks fans.

But that doesn't make coming into every thread and attacking other posters cool. So kindly stop.

A Giannis for KAT trade is literally not possible under the CBA unless Milwaukee figures out a way to shed about $20 million in salary as part of the deal.

Nowhere near value wise. I don't think there's a Knicks package that makes sense actually.

Needs a bunch of unprotected picks going to Milwaukee. I think they used all those up on Bridges though right?

The only way something like this would work is if Milwaukee had a way to flip both Anunoby and Towns for rebuilding pieces. Even with their contracts, OG is still worth a couple of 1sts and Towns should have positive value.

Dame-Middleton-Anunoby-Towns is a team fighting for the 6th seed with an almost guaranteed first round exit.

You can say what you want, but I’m not trading KAT and OG for Giannis for a lot of reasons. I like Brook but father time is catching up to him.

Knicks just need to keep building chemistry, get 100% healthy, and maybe make a minor-mid level deadline deal for some bench scoring.

Would be ironic if Giannis ends up at The Nets with a package containing all the picks the Knicks gave up for Giannis.

Those picks are nowhere near valuable enough for Giannis. Not to mention, it’s highly unlikely Giannis would accept a trade to a lotto level team

In retrospect its hard to fathom the Knicks giving up 5 picks for Bridges unless you understand the details of their plan.
The reason Bridges was their ultimate target is because of his salary slot.
They knew that if they acquired him at the $25m mark, they could still acquire a max player and squeeze under the first Apron.
Now are their $25m players that wouldn't require 5 first round picks to trade for? Surely. But the upside of the fit was there.

Why is then that Brooklyn and Miami are reportedly two of Giannis favoured destinations should he request a trade ?

If they keep Cam Thomas and a couple of other decent.players the Nets can be a legitimate contender with Giannis.

They have a very impressive young coach too.

I’m gunna need a reliable source on that one. It makes no logical sense whatsoever that he’d want to go to a worse team. Cam Thomas and Giannis isn’t winning a championship man, come on.
