ORL - SAC

ORL Gets: Kevin Huerter & Devin Carter
ORL Gives: Jonathan Isaac
Why for ORL? The Magic add a young guard can be another defensive menace (making a Carter/Suggs backcourt a nightmare for opposing offenses). Carter also projects as a good floor spacer who has some creation & scoring upside as well. He also has 4 years left on his rookie deal while projecting to be a player who can compete now. This will be useful once Banchero, Wagner, & Suggs are on their 2nd contract. They also get Huerter who provides them great floor spacing for when Banchero/Wagner break down the defense.

PG - Carter / Black / Anthony / Joseph
SG - Suggs / Caldwell-Pope / Harris
SF - Wagner / Huerter / Howard / Houston
PF - Banchero / Da Silva
C - Carter / Wagner/ Bitadze

SAC Gets: Jonathan Isaac
SAC Gives: Kevin Huerter & Devin Carter
Why for SAC? The Kings have a fair amount of guard options that can slide over for Carter & Huerter (Fox, Ellis, Monk, McLaughlin) but they need help in the frontcourt. Isaac gives them possibly the best fitting PF next to Isaac in the league due to his size, length, athleticism, defense, rim protection, rebounding, and shooting. The only question is can he stay healthy. However, the extension he just signed is very team friendly. He’s locked up for the next 5 seasons (prime years of 27-32 years old) on only $15 mil/year going forward. Not to mention the last 3 years on his contract are only guaranteed if he plays at least 52 games the previous season. That salary level will come in handy while navigating the aprons and the guarantees give the Kings the flexibility to pivot in case disaster strikes.

PG - Fox / Monk / McLaughlin
SG - Murray / Ellis / Jones
SF - DeRozan / McDermott
PF - Isaac / Lyles
C - Sabonis / Len / Robinson

When is Carter back from shoulder surgery? there is a chance he misses the entire year. Carter was a combo guard, similar to Suggs. Suggs and KCP are already a good defensive backcourt. Isaac is out better defender for the post. If anything, the Magic need a legit PG, not another combo guard. the value is good, just not sure on the fit.

He’ll be out until at least mid-January.

I don’t know about needing a “legit PG.” A Carter-Suggs-Wagner-Banchero gives me Boston-lite vibes since they all can handle the rock, pass, shoot, and defend (all while having solid size & length). I’m not sold on ORL needing a “true” PG. I think having another ball handler/playmaker on the floor gives them enough to make them potent (agree that a Suggs/KCP backcourt is too light in that department).

Orlando fans do know about this. and their star player has asked for it. The team could definitely use someone to help better set the table for other players. Franz is a good/willing passer, but isnt really a playmaker. Orlando has been limping along without a good PG for a long time.

No thanks from this Magic fan, this trade has been beaten to death and the end result is always the same.

Magic need playmaking scoring help, not spot up shooters that in theory shoot well but are not consistent threats. They have enough of those.

Isaac is needed more than ever now due to Banchero injury.

I think some iteration of Monk for Isaac has more legs.

Monk for Isaac is dead on arrival

Not trading Carter for Isaac. I like Isaac, just not sure I want to be on the hook paying him the next 5 years, he hasn't proven he can stay healthy. Id trade Huerter for him, but Orlando wouldn't do that. We've been down this road, there isn't a trade that makes sense for both teams. Orlando likes their guy, but he hasn't proven he's actually worth anything until he can stay healthy for a few seasons.

Anyone who has seen the team this year wouldnt want to move Huerter (the starting lineup is one of the best units with him and Keon isn't a starter). Devin doesn't need to be in an Isaac deal either

And the Isaac stuff needs to stop

Ya with Keegan looking like he’s not the rookie year shooter t Huerter is needed for spacing can’t trade him for a guy like Issac if he’s moved we need a wing that plays D and can spread the floor. Guys like Cam Johnson, Deandre Hunter, and Jerami Grant

I assume the intention is to sell high while he’s contributing…you couldn’t give Huerter away last season…

For Orlando, trading Isaac while he’s ambulatory might be the same thing.

I think we’re just at the ambulatory point. It’s been a waste of time talking about his servicability for years
