Lakers-Bulls

Lakers get Ball, Vucevic
Lakers get better guard defense and a backup C that Davis could play alongside.

Bulls get DLo, Rui, Christie
Bulls move Vucevic for Rui and Christie, get worse short term to help the tank but get younger players for the rebuild. Value comes from the Lonzo-DLo swap. Perhaps DLo goes to a 3rd team interested in playmaking (Magic?).

I'm not seeing any real reason for the Bulls to take on distant future money for these dudes

Not clear what the value add is for the Bulls. Rui is too old to be a prospect, so they'd have to be into Max Christie as a prospect. No idea how the league values him (has gotten the Laker market hype, but has yet to produce at all. Currently shooting 28% from the field as the the Lakers try to give him rotation minutes).

I also don't see this as amazing for the Lakers. Lonzo Ball is a HUGE injury risk who might be an injury away from retiring. Vucevic is having a nice start to the season, but wow has he ever been awful the past few seasons. Soaking up possessions without providing any offensive value. Massive negative on/off his whole Bulls tenure. There's a chance the Lakers give up 2 starters for an injured player and a guy who's a negative on the court.

This doesn't solve any of the Lakers issues and the Bulls don't really have a solid reason to make this deal.

You leave the Bulls with ONLY Jalen Smith as a center. that makes it a non starter.

I don't see the Lakers giving up Rui for Vucevic just like there's no reason for the Bulls to swap an expiring Ball for an Expiring DLo. Lonzo Ball is a big gamble next year as a FA just like he is this year. I'm crazy but I can see Lonzo resigning with the Bulls at the minimum as a thank you for sticking by him when he has missed 2 3/4 seasons. He's got his money so he could resign to see if he's healthy enough to get back to full time.

I'm pretty sure this exact trade got posted a while ago when Lonzo was being treated as 100% dead salary, so if it was fair then it should be considered heavily biased to the Lakers now.

Maybe an SRP or so needs to go to Bulls. I thought both Rui and Christie would be suitable long-term pieces for Bulls rebuild. Rui isn't developing but he provides a decent player.

Lakers are happy for the defense IMO. Lonzo is a risk but they'd take the risk to be contender status.

Seems wild to view Max Christie as an asset. Do Lakers fans like him?
We're talking about a third year player who has shown zero evidence of being a positive on the court, but is randomly locked in a realy chunk of guaranteed money. He even has a player option in 2028! He's very much a negative asset until he proves there's some value there. Shooting 28% and boasting a -33.1 on/off. I think I'm being reasonable in saying you'd need to convince a team to take on Christie's long term money by adding things into the deal.

Rui is okay and his contract is short. I can't picture a team viewing him as a definite positive asset though. Maybe if there was a positional need, but I don't see why the Bulls would be interested.

It seems like you'd like Lonzo and Vooch on the Lakers. To be fair, I dont think either Bull is valued very highly so they feel gettable. (Unless Vucevic keeps up this level of shooting, then he might have real value. He's balling out right now.) It doesn't seem like the Lakers are sending out positive value in this deal though. Russell's stock is pretty low. Seems like a garbage for garbage trade, but Vooch is balling right now and I bet the Bulls hold on to Lonzo to see if he can be healthy and bring back actual value.

Yeah Christie is well liked, hard working and the right mindset. He's missed out on development under Ham, he should have been given minutes over other guys, but he's still young and I'd expect him to be a starter level player in a few years.

If he's not seen as an asset then Lakers would keep him I'd say, his timeline just doesn't fit what team should be trying to do - contend now.

I'd like Lonzo and Vuc because they are gettable, I don't think Lakers FO are keen to move an FRP anymore unless it's multiple FRPs for a star level player. Lakers could come in with SRPs for this trade.

Easy no.

Vuc is playing like Magic AS Vuc.

Don’t think Lakers want a C either.

Think Bulls can get a protected 1st years out for Vuc if he keeps up his play. I’d add our POR 1st if it could get us a 1st in this draft.
