Jabari for BI

Jabari+ Dillon Brooks for Brandon Ingram
Rockets consolidate a bit, get some offensive punch they really need, can hopefully keep BI at a non max deal
Pelicans don't want to pay BI so get a wing/big that fits with Zion potentially long term with two years cost control then rfa. Dillon is a helpful player but Nola still has a ton of wings so might need to go somewhere else.

i like this for the Pel's who may need to transition into a tank depending on how long Dejounte/Zion are out for. Hate it for Houston. Dont like Ingram as a fit between Green/Sengun (dunno if they fit on their own tbh) and dont like paying him big money

I think Jabari best position by far is PF, just not a fit with Zion holding that position down. Smith should still have solid value around the league to find the right value via a 3rd team for NOP.
For Houston, something has to give soon. Have to do something like this or spin off assets for future value to maintain value and flexibility.

Like it a lot for both teams

I would not do this.

An unwanted expiring for two cheap defensive studs, one of which is a shooter (although slow start for Jabari so far). NO would need to add four firsts and send Ingram somewhere else.

Ingram's contract might be a worst investment than the combined value of Dillon Brooks' contract and the contract Jabari Smith will command in RFA.

Look, I'm not a fan of paying BI either but the dialogue has gotten a bit too extreme about him (imagine that)

I’m not a big fan of Ingram either, but I think you’re totally right.
Time and time again, we see borderline All Stars like Ingram get ravaged by posters on RealGM, but then in real life, we see them bring back bigger trade returns, or get bigger contracts than the masses predicted. And in our vanity, we are shocked and say how stupid the front office is .. and all the while refusing to change our valuations of other similar players.
In our protected little corner of the internet, there is no penalty for avoiding good-but-not-great players like Ingram and losing games, as long as it saves some money and lets us dream that our young player is a future super-duper star. Actual GM’s get crushed by owners and fans if the team doesn’t win. They need to take swings, or else they eventually get the bat taken out of their hands.

In terms of is he worth more than Jabari Smith and Dillon Brooks or in terms of is he worth 4 1sts more than those two. I do think his value in an open market would be considerably higher than the offers he's getting but the salary cap is making it very difficult to make certain deals and making players like Zach LaVine be considered negative value. But, as you say, it only takes one desperate GM. Heck, the Wiz moved Bradley Beal for positive value.

I really like this value and fit for New Orleans (and I obviously like it for Houston considering that I've spammed Ingram to Houston deals for a bit). I like Ingram, he's a very good player and if he is your second best player I don't think you would be mad about it. If he is your third best player you feel great, and in Houston he might be their fourth best player, especially if FVV's percentages go up by getting a few more off-ball looks because of Ingram. I actually think he is a really good fit between FVV and Sengun because he can be a pressure release valve for both.

He'd be a good player, but he still poses the same issue where eventually Houston's payroll will bite them in the ass. That can make it more difficult with roster building and retaining other pieces of the young core.
OKC had the right idea trading Giddey for a cost controlled role player that fits all the characteristics of what their team wanted from the SG position. That's where my mind is focused on in regards to a Jabari trade. If there's not an A+ star available that can help the team win a playoff round, then I would trade Jabari for a role player that does his job better than he can.

Any way to slide Julius Randle in here?

Caruso is not cost controlled. he's a UFA after this year

Boy I would rather hope Smith becomes the real plus defender you need next to Sengun, with enough offense to stay on the court rather than do this.
There are other ways to add a scorer if you feel the team needs that in the short term.

Ingram is "aight", but is like a 20m a year player to me.
Say what you want about Brooks, but lineups have just played extraordinarily well when he is on the court. He has the intangible effect.
If I had to guess, I don't even think the Rockets would trade Brooks straight up for Ingram. I think (and I believe the org does too) that he just doesn't impact the game very much. Why would we throw away assets for that?
He doesn't really fit one of three needs we have....Super Star, offensive engine, or rim protector.
If you want some expiring's and a mid first, sure, but I'll pass in most other iterations of this deal.

One player is a RFA looking for his first big payday and a bigger role, and the other player is an established 30 year old role player. I'd say the odds are that Giddey is looking to get paid more than Caruso will be.

Caruso is a UFA who is also looking for his first big payday. Problem with Caruso is he probably wont accept an extension due to his low salary this year. He is not cost controlled and the market may offer stupid money for his service (only take one team - see anunoby and knicks)

Sorry, not trying to derail this topic, but don't wanna make a new thread without knowing the answer.
Would the Rockets be willing to move Adams for fairly cheap or ya'll trying to hold onto him for veteran leadership/insurance?
I ask because he doesn't seem to be in the rotation and the Pacers need a backup Center after losing Wiseman/Jackson for the season. That said, I'm just not sure what the Pacers would be willing to part with for him, nor how highly valued he is to the Rockets.
Thanks!
Edit: thinking he may have just been injured, so if that’s the case; don’t mind me haha.

Yeah he's just missed games with injury/slow ramp up to playing again, they like him as backup C
