Replace Cam with DFS & I would do it

DFS is the odd one out on the Nets due to age

Can this trade be expanded to include Claxton- and for Nets fans, why is Claxton not starting?

Lakers don't have the assets to get Claxton AND CamJ

29 1st, 31 1st, 28 swap, AR, Knecht... they do have the assets. Will they be willing to pay the price BK would ask? That's a different conversation. But Nets clearly want to tank and aren't starting Claxton so maybe the price isn't sky high.

Claxton was injured then on minutes restrictions

He’s starting now

Hamstring injury recovery and resultant minutes restriction. He’s now started 4 games in a row.

Maybe DFS+CamJ is a better target.

Lakers get CamJ, DFS

Nets get DLo, Rui, Christie, LAL29FRP(unprotected)

I don’t see the need to trade Cam unless we’re blown away with the offer as he’s not old, worth his contract and plays a valuable position

His main issues is injury but he will be worth the same next season so might as well hang out for a great deal

I can’t see the Lakers moving a 1st rd pick for role players unless we get to Feb and they are in contention for a top 2 seed in the West.

I wouldn’t pitch Christie in trades until midseason. Until he’s put together some solid play for awhile, he’s a bad contract. If LA has faith in him, hey need to hold him until that faith pays off a little bit. Because no one else is going to pay them for it not showing yet. At this point, he’s on a slightly larger contract than Donovan Clingan, but fully gtd and with no team protection if he doesn’t develop.

I’m not writing him off yet, but he’s simply LA’s guy they believe in until he proves more on the court.

The Lakers aren't moving an unprotected 1st for this group that is only a slight upgrade due to fit not talent.

No one is trading an unprotected 1st for DFS. Honestly, I think the Nets woukd be crazy to turn one down for Cam on his contract.

If the Lakers added more to this deal it might happen. This would result in the Lakers being contenders again. I do not think Lakers haters would like this (not one here but just saying.... they would flip out!!!!)

Yeah fair enough. I assumed AR was off the table but if they throw him in things could get interesting.

At the end of the day if I were the Nets, I'd probably do Claxton and CamJo for Knecht and 2 unprotected 1sts (and whatever filler contracts LAL wanted to dump) but they seem to be hesitant to go full tank & rebuild.

Claxton is not going anywhere now. I think they need to see who they pair him with next season with Cam Thomas and Clowney. It seems like they are going to build around Cam Thomas, Claxton, Clowney, Wilson, and bring in a FA or 2 with the new rookies next season and then re-evaluate then. They likely keep one or two veterans to make the transition easier.

If the Lakers can get either DFS or CamJo for only 1 1st and a player that is a win for LAL.

He's a guy that brings defense and ideally some shooting. Defense is there but shooting is not. He may not be in rotation, it might be Reddish instead.

Schroeder would slot into DLo role off the bench to support that group.

You can't get both Cam J and Schröder from us for a single 1st

Yeah that's fair. His main issue is offense, in particular he doesn't seem ready to slot into a spot up shooter role. He's still trying to show off his 3-level scorer skills, to be bigger than the role Reddick planned. So that's the battle at the moment.
