Adams and two seconds for Olynyk
Adams has been meh when playing and not playing a ton so rockets upgrade and get a stretch five for the Amen+Tari bench units to run with. Raptors sell a vet for seconds, clear some future salary and maybe as Adams gets healthy can help their young guys with his still bone crushing screens

Value wise and rationale is sound. The issue is KO is Canadian and the Raps want him around for some hometown story lines and mentorship vibes. He just extended. Probably not worth two seconds from a player goodwill perspective.

Is KO better than Landale? Seems silly to send picks for such a marginal upgrade.
I am all for upgrading, but how about our 25 first, protected, for Poetl.

You mean the OKC/ PHX pick?
Isn't that already protected and then swap rights owned by OKC?
That's almost guaranteed to be a 20+ pick right?
Poeltl averaging 16 and 11. Doubt Toronto does that tbh.

Spending a first on a backup center who's too good to be a backup seems way worse than spending 2/5ths of the seconds they have the next two years on a fit upgrade

Olynyk is a mentor for the Raptors young bigs. They won't part with him for just picks. He's probably going to be a part of the program for a while. They have plenty of other pieces like Brown, Boucher, and Mitchell that can get them 2nd rounders.

To point out the obvious, Adams has only played 6 games this year -- which is 6 games more than Olynyk
Kelly has a back issue. That might even explain why he looked so horrible on Canada's Olympic team, getting outplayed by both Dwight Powell and Khem Birch. Not sure how many games Kelly will play this year, but a number under 40 would be my best guess, and I'm not sure why any team would trade for him until/unless he's shown he can get back on the court and produce.
In the meantime, yeah, it's a vibes thing, and a stealth tank. At least it's nice to have another bilingual Canadian player who can answer the questions in French.

Adams brings exactly that to the Rockets and I would argue is better at being a veteran presence than Olynyk is.
I love Olynyk for his time a few years agin in Houston, but he has seriously declined it seems. We need someone like Adams and he also embodies the toughness that Udoka wants to instill on the Rockets. We also need a bruiser like Adams. Sengun is everything Olynyk wishes he was. Adams is more of a change of pace guy which is more valuable to us.
