I think Huerter can be rerouted also he’s an expiring contract next year he can be an asset then or this year. Also $18 isn’t a terrible contract

I actually like the idea of targeting the free agents in the following Summer.

If the Nets feel differently he just might not be the right player for them.

Firsts are given up too lightly here. DFS is a solid player, but a first you should be getting more done. Obviously no one is giving up a first to get off a year of a rotational player like Huerter

To add on to the value of a first, our GM has traded it somewhat twice

A swap for the older but still borderline all star DDR with some leadership, and a heavily protected first for what was seen as a younger, more rising option at the time in Huerter to an older/somewhat inconsistent DFS

The Lakers were able to reshape their roster with serviceable role players for a first.

There is no world DFS nets a solid rotational player and a first. Just doesn’t have that values and you’re not tossing it in either.

Two seconds if he really is “the piece”. But he’s not. That guy will have the same abilities and be 6’10” or more because our weak spot is a shiftable PF that can hit threes at a good clip. Not another undersized PF at 6’7” who is on the wrong side of thirty.
