Brooklyn/Sac

Sacramento in: DFS/Williams

Brooklyn in: Huerter, Colby Jones, Robinson, future 1st, and two second round picks

Why for Brooklyn: Get three draft picks for a guy they won’t resign and Williams while starting the tank will be hard to get a first for an expiring so throwing in Williams helps that

Why for Sacramento: Get a wing defender that’s desperately needed can also play small ball center in bench units with Lyles. Williams is another long wing that helps with depth and defense. After the trade the team will have an abundance of good defenders in fox, Ellis, Carter, Keegan, DFS, Williams, Lyles, and yes Sabonis

Huerter counts about $18 mil against the cap next year.

Not sure the Nets would be willing to take his salary coming back.

Feels like they would for a 1st round pick. Not for extra 2nds but for a 1st - sure.

I think Huerter can be rerouted also he’s an expiring contract next year he can be an asset then or this year. Also $18 isn’t a terrible contract

I actually like the idea of targeting the free agents in the following Summer.

If the Nets feel differently he just might not be the right player for them.

In what world? They wouldnt deal out the initial first for the exchange imo

Firsts are given up too lightly here. DFS is a solid player, but a first you should be getting more done. Obviously no one is giving up a first to get off a year of a rotational player like Huerter

To add on to the value of a first, our GM has traded it somewhat twice

A swap for the older but still borderline all star DDR with some leadership, and a heavily protected first for what was seen as a younger, more rising option at the time in Huerter to an older/somewhat inconsistent DFS

The Lakers were able to reshape their roster with serviceable role players for a first.

DFS just isnt that

This has been done to death.

There is no world DFS nets a solid rotational player and a first. Just doesn’t have that values and you’re not tossing it in either.

Two seconds if he really is “the piece”. But he’s not. That guy will have the same abilities and be 6’10” or more because our weak spot is a shiftable PF that can hit threes at a good clip. Not another undersized PF at 6’7” who is on the wrong side of thirty.

DOA for Sac.

DFS is not the answer. Williams shine has worn off. And a first? It’s a fireable trade.

I understand the first part but the bolded right after is hilarious

Also it's funny to see DFS being called an "undersized PF at 6'7"". I don't think you've actually watched him play.
