LAL/CHI/ORL

Here we go...sharpen your knives:

BULLS 25 frp is Top 10 protected...they NEED to stop screwing around and clean house NOW!
LAL has maybe a couple of LBJ seasons...they need to go for it NOW!
ORL has an amazing defense but an offense sitting squarely on the shoulders of Paolo & Franz iso-ing

Good news...I've solved everyone's problems :D

LAL sends: Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Deangelo Russell
LAL gets: KCP, Vuc
Why: perfect fits for their needs. For those worried about ORL "optics", KCP would be thrilled - he got the deal he wanted and is heading back to a legit "right now" contender that he's familiar with. Vuc is a beautiful fit next to AD - they need stronger defensive rebounding and floor spreading - that's Vuc. AD still gets minutes at C when matchups, etc warrant it. KCP is a champion 3&D killer who drops right in and improves any playoff team not featuring his younger clone, Jalen Suggs at the other guard spot.

CHI sends: Vucevic, Zach Lavine
CHI gets: Rui Hachimura, DeAngelo Russell (exp), Jaxson Hayes (exp), Cole Anthony (1y then TO), Gary Harris (expiring/TO),
Why: Time to get serious about a rebuild BEFORE they watch SAS grab their #11 pick this summer. Interesting young talent, expiring deals, picks. I don't know that they even command any draft equity, given the financial flexibility they gain here. They might even explore buyouts or quick flips with guys like Russell and Harris, who might help a playoff team.

ORL sends: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, Gary Harris
ORL gets: Zach Lavine
Why: Suddenly championship offensive potential to go with top 5 defense. Honestly, ORL doesn't give up anyone that is critical to their current rotation...KCP's really not a fit, despite his impressive defense, even if his proven 3pt shooting was present (I don't question that it will return and I think LAL wouldn't doubt or devalue him based on a small sample). I'd rather grab Coby White to ORL, but the $$ just can't work and CHI would and should demand draft compensation if they'd even discuss it. The financial burden of Lavine IS nothing to sneeze at, but he expires in 2027 (assuming he exercises his PO). ORL still retains all of it's draft capital and can use it to upgrade C or bench rotation, if desired, or maybe as part of a bigger draft night deal with WCJ or others. Let's not forget what an explosive and versatile 3-level scorer Lavine is and what a solid cast of defenders ORL boasts, even without KCP. Black's emergence really makes KCP that much more expendable.

Lakers need a backup 4/5 more than somebody who will bump AD/ LeBron up to 3/4 imo. Think Lakers counter with Gabe Vincent plus for KCP.

they will need all that draft capital because they will be so far over the cap they wont have any money to sign free agents

Why on Earth would ORL even consider that...unless the "plus" is Reaves or Knecht?

It's pretty well-established that AD doesn't want to play C full-time

That's fair but won't really need Free Agents (as if ORL does anything with cap space historically anyway)...even if the picks were bundled with guys like WCJ, or Mo, or others to upgrade or even to just rotate in similar players with less salary. Get the talent-sort out the finances next.

As a Lakers fan, looks very good to me.

Honestly, probably too good for LAL, but not sure who is being "punished"...I suppose ORL taking on Zach's deal is the biggest risk, given his injury and alleged "empty stat" history. I'd take that risk if I'm ORL, because he's absolutely elite offensively and, if the ball is (primarily) running through Paolo & Franz' hands, I'd like to think Zach won't "overpower" them in the flow of the offense. I realize I even mentioned "picks" in the OP, presuming CHI would get some from someone but, ultimately, I didn't see a need. Basketball-wise, I think it's great but my limitations as a capologist vs new CBA and salary cap have me wondering if it's financially viable for ORL. I believe it is but...

The Bulls do it, moving on from Lavine and Vucevic is the present goal, I just don't see the other teams want to bail the Bulls out. It's bad that they give 2 and get 3, which three guys are they releasing?

Rui starts at the 4 Patrick Williams finally gets to be the 3. DLo and Anthony come deep off the bench behind Giddey, White, Ball and Dosunmu. Maybe Ball and Giddey help backup the SF to get DLo or Anthony in the game. No room or minutes for Harris if they intend to get Phillips and Buzelis any minutes. Hayes backs up Smith at the 5, that's very thin.

It's not great for the Bulls who would be happy if they find somewhere to move DLo, Anthony, Duarte and Harris along with Jevon Carter.

Ya I dont see Orlando wanting Gabe

Also salaries dont work

Needs to be Dlo and JHS

If we are moving Dlo though, we need to get another guard in a different deal who can playmake a bit and shoot

Unsure if Vuc is what we should be going for

I want to see how we look with Wood as the stretch big as well if he is coming back soon

If he is fine, then maybe dont spend a lot of $ on a C and go get a cheaper C from a salary perspective

Orl isn’t getting any laker players in the posters deal? Gabe would be going to Chicago.

I’m saying the concept of the deal is Orlando wants lavine. Lakers outgoing players still can go to Chicago.
Chicago turns lavine into lakers ugly money. Chicago can decided to send vuc or kcp to lakers.

Chicago turns Lavine into smaller bad contracts.

KCP is a great fit for Lakers even though he's clearly not worth his contract. I think this is smart trade concept.

My tweak would be that Bulls don't need more playmaking guards and Lakers don't need Vuc (who they value a lot now).

Magic get Lavine, JHS
Magic give KCP, Cole, Goga

Lakers get KCP, Goga
Lakers give Rui, Gabe, JHS, 2xSRPs

Bulls get Rui, Gabe, Cole, 2xSRPs
Bulls give LaVine

Orlando only takes on another max contract IF it guarantees them contention.

This does not so will never happen.
