BKN - DAL - Bringing a familiar face back

BKN in: Kleber, O-Max, '25 DAL 1st (top-10 protected)
BKN out: Finney-Smith

Why? Sell DFS for a pick in this draft and a prospect to kickstart their selling ways (I expect them to sell Thomas/Johnson/Schroder as well).

Schroder/Simmons
Thomas/Johnson
Williams/Prosper
Clowney/Wilson
Claxton/Sharpe

DAL in: Finney-Smith
DAL out: Kleber, O-Max, '25 DAL 1st (top-10 protected)

Why? Bring in a familiar face to fortify their forward depth that can be versatile with most lineups here. Giving up two guys that aren't reliable and a pick feels fine for the return on court that DFS would bring.

Doncic/Irving
Irving/Grimes
Thompson/Marshall
Washington/Finney-Smith
Gafford/Lively

Dallas only has 500k 1st apron space and they are taking back 1M more than outgoing in OP

Does DFS have this kind of value? A pick in the teens in a good draft?. Also as pointed out Dallas need to stay under the 1st apron.

Not at all.The dfs we all knew and loved probably was, not this version.

Not really sure how legal it is, but hypothetically, Nico can talk to Kyrie and ask him to waive 400K off his bonus, and open enough to cover the distance.
I'd do the OP if Nets kick back their 2nd rd pick, or if they replace the 1st with 2 2nds, Mavs have Sixers 2nd rounder next year, looks like it has some potential.

P.S. Maxi Kleber is a useful rotation player, he's just injured 40 games every year, Clippers should trade dead expiring like PJT for him.

Even if we use our TPE? that limits a lot on what we can do

This version of DFS is shooting his highest percentage from three in the most volumes of his career... Now he's also been tasked with playing center, which might have something to do with this, but the point remains that player wise he's still the same player if not better.

It's just his contract which is less favorable, which might not matter if Dallas can wink wink nudge nudge come to an understanding with him ;)

Dfs was one of my fave players ever, but he's not worth a frp from last year and one in a potentially loaded draft when Dal is already pick thin. It makes zero sense

TPE doesn't matter, dallas need to stay under 1st apron because they are hardcapped after signing marshall w/ MLE

Not this version? This version is playing better than the Dallas version

This version is posting career highs in efficiency and points, while being top 30 in EPM in the entire league so far

P.S. As a Nets fan I would do this deal.

Of course you would, you get a FRP and a recent FRP for an older vet who doesn't much move the needle. The trade makes a lot of sense for BKN and zero for Dallas

I mean if you're a Mavs fan, then you know what DFS brings to a team, and he absolutely does help you guys a lot given your deficiencies. But the whole "this version" thing is nonsense, there's zero basis for that and you said that you'd probably do it for the nostalgic version of the DFS you remember. So the logic isn't adding up.

Whether that's worth what's proposed in the OP is up for debate, but a Mavs fan made this thread/proposal.

I'm not going to call out posters, but take a look at the history, some pretty big overpay proposals for the Mavs.

Dfs is on the wrong side of 30. Dallas has klay Kyrie Spencer powell exum etc, they don't need older guys on their last legs. Especially at the expense of picks

Nobody is taking "O-Max" unless Dallas is throwing in incentive. He's a dime a dozen prospect.

And nobody is trading a FRP for DFS. He was apparently worth two frp years ago, yet Nets didn't cash in. Then a frp, yet here we are. Again, dfs was awesome, but using your nomenclature, he's just a dime a dozen guy now. Guys like Caleb Martin make less, younger, and better

But Caleb Martin isn't better... And my team looking was that O-Max is a fringe NBA player...
