Kuminga for Scoot
GSW gets a young combo guard.
Pdx gets young 3/4 depth.
Melton is done, GSW needs playmaking help.
Kerr can't figure out how to make Kuminga fit his plans.
Basically one misfit for another.

Pass for POR.
Do not want my team paying Kumingas next contract.
Scoot stinks but at least (some might at most) he is cheap.

Well, you don't have to pay JK and if Scoot stinks you're just sending him down the road earlier than later

Or we could continue to vainly hope he justifies his draft position.

Ditto quote for JK from GSW

Seems we agree about several things.

Right now, Scoot is the only true PG on the team.
I agree with JRoy in that I wouldn't want Portland stuck with paying for his next contract

Scoot isn't the answer for what GS needs- ballhandler/passer/defender that can score some as well and play alongside Steph. If you have a Steph/Scoot backcourt, there's a problem

This is the kind of deal where Scoot goes to GSW and suddenly becomes a much better player under a good coach\offensive structure than the complete lack of both in POR currently
Kuminga wants a max, correct? So POR is locked into giving him one, which he is not worth IMO or risk losing him to another team (BRK?) that would be willing to take such a risk
I’d pass, let’s see what Scoot is like under a competent coach once Billups is shown the door

Why? Who is making him a max offer? Only the Nets project right now to max space and they are very very unlikely to extend him a max offer. GSW or Portland or whomever holds his restricted rights this off-season are going to be in a good position to retain him for a number considerably less than that. And if he wants to just gamble like crazy on a QO, let him. Team would still have Bird Rights and an additional year to evaluate him.
But I strongly disagree trading for him means trading for him on a new max deal. Nobody should do that.

Exactly right, nobody is giving Kuminga a max or close to it. With Melton gone GS does need a ballhandling guard, though, but pretty sure Scoot's not the answer.

Even without a max, Portland still may be less likely to offer the most given we have 2 young forwards in Deni and Camara that should factor into the future (I’m assuming Deni bounces back under a coach who knows how to use him). I’m not saying they are so good we couldn’t use a Kuminga, but Portland may be less desperate than another team to overpay for a forward. If it weren’t for the contract situations though, I’d definitely swap Scoot for Kuminga.

Scoot would be buried on the bench in GS. Pass.
