Chris Boucher destinations?

Boucher has risen from the dead, as it were, after a year spent primarily riding the pine. He's averaging 11 points and almost 5 boards in 19 minutes, providing a lot of energy and hustle, on a $10.8 million expiring salary. I'm curious what folks think would be a potential landing spot for him?

Kings immediately come to my mind....

What do the Raptors need/want?

2nd rounders and an expiring. Or a non-lotto 1st with a contract that drags an extra year

My guess is his value is still pretty minimal. Expiring salary and a second? Maybe 2 2nds?

Clippers for Tucker's filler salary and a 2nd would make sense to give them some more front court depth, but not sure what they have to trade picks wise.

Kings make sense as tester mentioned.

With all of CHA's front court injuries they could use a body. Maybe a deal centered around Micic's salary.

Heat could use him but the salary match is tough unless TOR wants to take on Rozier or Duncan Robinson's multi year deal. They might want extra pick compensation for that financial burden which MIA should not and would not pay in all likelihood.

The Bulls could use him and they have Duarte/Jevon Carter to match money with.

Pacers could use him with Wiseman's injury but the salary matching piece is tough.

Knicks have long been discussed as needing some front court depth, but the salary piece is tough with apron restrictions and Boucher not being good enough to send Robinson out.

A MIL trade with Bobby Portis could make sense if MIL just wants to shake something up. Seems lateral though.

Cavs might like him better than Niang so that could be a match.

That was just the East I went through. He's a pretty useful player at a spot a lot of teams could use depth, so i think it'd be easy to move him. It just won't be for a lot though because he isn't a needle mover.

he would be good depth piece for regular season for teams. expiring and 2nd(s) sounds about right.

I think Raptors should be happy if they get a single SRP + expiring. I don't even know they'd get one.

I think the demand side of the equation helps the Raptors out here. A team like the Hornets should be open to a trade. If you want to go big, Brown and Boucher for Miles Bridges could work.

I like the Sacramento call out, I think they could really use Boucher. Either Huerter + 2nd(s) or Lyles + Len + 2nd(s).

Huerter is having a rough year and it will take more than 2nds to dump his extra 24M guaranteed over this and next year. Lyles and 2nd(s) is fine though

Yah, I don't like Huerter, either, but some people seem to think that contract is fine for what he can do. I think he's a just-above-minimum player.

It's arguable who is the better player between Lyles and Boucher, I don't think there is any asset owed in this exchange given Lyles is also cheaper.

Not really arguable who is having the better year (or career to date for that matter). Boucher would be an upgrade for the Kings

Here is their comparison over last year
https://stathead.com/basketball/versus-finder.cgi?request=1&seasons_type=perchoice&player_id1=bouchch01&p1yrfrom=2024&p1yrto=2024&player_id2=lylestr01&p2yrfrom=2024&p2yrto=2024I
Really, both are overpaid for their production, it's an exchange of fringe rotation player who will not see a minute in the PO unless there is an emergency, if anything, Boucher isn't worth the tax bill that comes with him...

Agreed boucher is not worth paying the tax for. Boucher's production this year is not bad for 10M though

He's a 32 y/o player, with history of problematic behaviour, without clear position.
Yeah, he's having a good stretch (after disappearing for practically the entirety of his contract), there really is no juice here to squeeze IMO.

What problematic behavior? That's new to me.
He was decent in nick nurses system in 2022-2023 but didnt fit well into darkos last year. Looks like he is more comfortable now though

Maybe I'm not remembering right? I think had some episodes of acting out on court? I may be wrong

There is no "history" with Boucher. Regardless, he's mostly a lateral move for Lyles, so why would Sacramento give up anything to do that? They might be prepared to do Huerter and 2nd(s), but Toronto is unlikely to take on Huerter's 2nd year for a 2nd or 2, so Sacramento doesn't seem like a fit.

Memphis might be interesting, they can use a cheap PF/C who spreads the floor.

Something like:

Boucher
for
Luke Kennard + 2 mid/late 2nds (eg '25 OKC + '26 LAC)

Much rather have Kennard and his special skillset. Cannot see why Boucher is worth more than him and wouldn't be in our playoff rotation while Kennard likely will depending on the matchups. I think we would aim higher if we wanted to use Kennard's expring salary in a trade.
