Trae to LA

LA IN: Trae Young
LA Out: Max Christie, D'angelo Russell, Gabe Vincent. LA '28 pick Swap Top 4 protected and LA '29 pick Top 4 protected

LA Clear salary and makes a play for a young star to pair with AD/LBJ, as well as led LA once LBJ retires.

ATL IN: Max Christie, D'angelo Russell, Gabe Vincent, LA '28 Swap Top 4 protected and La '29 pick Top 4 protected
ATL Out: Trae Young.

Pick up premium picks and swaps for a player that probably won't resign. Also AD would be 35/36 when those picks mature as well as the fact he has 2 years left on his contract.

There's nothing "premium" about what Atl is getting here, this is terribly one-sided for LAL

needs to be a full unprotected pick, not a protected swap, and at least one more FRP. The Lakers are far more desperate than the Hawks to do a trade like this

2026 swap, 2028 swap, 2029 1st, 2030 swap, 2031 1st are all the 1sts LAL has to offer for any player. Atlanta doesn't do this even if the Lakers send all of them.

So 2 negative contracts, an expiring with no value, 1 protected pick and 1 protected swap? I'm for sure not a Trae fan, but this is downright insulting.

I think it is a bit short on value going to ATL. Not a ton but a bit. I think Young is over rated, but it will take more than this.
Make the pick unprotected and maybe it’s something to consider. Or is there a player with a little positive value the Lakers can add?

There's no way Hawks are handing Trae to LA when they own the Lakers unprotected '25 FRP.
Maybe next offseason but it's really difficult for Hawks to tear down when the Spurs are basically in possession of their FRP's the next few years.

This is missing significant value for the Hawks, value that I am not sure the Lakers have/want to move. The Hawks are also not taking on Christie or Vincent without added incentive.

As others have said in this thread, this doesn't make sense for the Hawks. They have no real need to tear down, there are no good young players with potential coming back and the picks only provide value down the road.

Like, not even Reaves?
