Timelord/Banton for?

I think Timelord and Banton could make a solid package for a contending team, offering very good backups at C and PG/SG. Banton's been great coming off the bench (instant offense) and has this yr left at 2.2 mil, we know what Timelord can do and he has 2 yrs left at 26 mil total. I'd like to see them get an expiring and "decent" first back, is that reasonable?

Teams that have a decent first rounder likey won't want those players.
I'd offer Adams and the convoluted 25 #1 ( top 10 protected) we have, plus a 2nd or two.

Nnaji + Saric + 2031 UNPROTECTED 1ST
works for evyerone

What’s the asking price for just Banton?

Good question. He is an expiring and I'd imagine lots of GM's might not trust the numbers he's putting up in 1/4 season, hard for me to gauge value like that which is one reason I thought packaging him with Timelord might be worth a 15 to low 20's pick with an expiring. Frankly really don't want a 2031 pick like that Denver trade, would prefer this draft or next

An unprotected DEN 2031 is a big chip for those two, imo.

The Blazers are in a deep rebuild with no sure-thing top talent. This is exactly the kind of long-term play they should make.
I think Denver could get a safer bet contributor than Williams for that first, though, and wouldn't do this.

I'd be shocked if the Blazers manage to get a mid first out of that package. Unless RWIII remains healthy and plays
out of his mind until the trade deadline, I don't see him getting anywhere near that value.

By far the most sensible Blazers poster on these boards.

It’s not just the swing on Rob and getting Banton. Denver pays a SIGNIFICANT premium just to dump Nnaji. In the second apron world, Nnaji is a spectacularly negative contract

Not sure how off I am and not sure how you value Thybulle (hasn’t played this season and was reinjured during ramp up) but how does this sound?
Cole Anthony
Caleb Houstan
‘25 SRP - best of ORL or BOS/MEM (worst of)
‘26 SRP - best of ORL or DET/MIL (worst of)
For
Matisse Thybulle
Dalano Banton
Portland doesn’t have *real (or conveyable) SRP’s in either the ‘25 or ‘26 draft. This gives them some picks, young player they can check out and Anthony that has a manageable salary that isn’t really going to get in the way of any development that can probably be moved later down the road.

Pretty easy pass for me as a Blazers fan given I don’t want to double up on Cole and Simons while taking on more money. It isn’t a significant amount of money but the player fits/downgrades/money all combined don’t make the 2nds feel worth it. I’d much rather find a Simons for Cole+ trade.

If Denver offers the 2031 first, Portland should take that and run. On draft night, I'm sure a few teams would be more than willing to consider to trade a pick in the early 20s for it. Say, a Houston, or if OKC has one in that range.

Portland and Denver's front offices have done a lot of business together over the years.
SA traded a FRP in this draft for an UNP in 2031 from Minnesota and Portland if they got an UNP in 2031
for TL should pull the trigger

Denver has to send more salary to avoid hard capping themselves at the first apron. They have to send out more salary than they take back in any trade.

If RWIII stays healthy and Banton keeps playing this well that deal w/ DEN is pretty great for both sides IMO. RWIII and Dalano are exactly what DEN needs to bolster its bench.
But the reality is RWIII is unreliable and Dalano just has to come back to earth with his shooting IMO. I cant see a team betting a UNP FRP for them. But if they stay healthy and shooting well respectively its a deal that really, really could pay off for DEN. But would I bet my last FRP on that (As this is DENs last tradable pick) - no way.

NBA is not really a "2 for 1" league. How rare is it on draft night for a team to trade a pick in the teens for 2 picks in the late 20s? We see teams every year with multiple picks in the 25-35 range trying to trade up and few find buyers for that type of consolidation deal.
The same principles apply here. Premise seems to be aggregating two players for more than their worth individually which just doesn't happen much in the NBA. I think POR would end up better off trading these guys separate. Someone might give you more for both, but my guess is it would be so marginal that it wouldn't net out as better than two separate deals.

Banton is the second coming of Will Barton, who ironically was traded from Portland to Denver. I like this for that reason alone lol.
