Chicago & Golden State: Non-Vucevuc trade | White for Kuminga

In a recent thread I expanded the popular Vucevic to Golden State idea to include Coby and Kuminga, which garnered a lot of interesting feedback.

One idea I had was to remove the Vucevic content and make the basis of the deal White for Kuminga.


Bulls in: Jonathan Kuminga, De'Anthony Melton, Lindy Waters, 2026 & 2028 ATL 2nds

Warriors in: Coby White, Torrey Craig, and Jevon Carter


Bulls:

Giddey/Ball
LaVine/Ayo/THT
Williams/Terry/Phillips
Kuminga/Buzelis
Vucevic/Smith

I said it in the other thread - the Bulls want to acquire young, current NBA players. The trade balances out the Bulls roster some which was pretty guard heavy. Some may be concerned with minutes distribution between Kuminga-Williams-Buzelis but I think all three can play together in different combinations and all get plenty of time.

Bulls have wanted Kuminga. They can be very tunnel vision.

I like the added athleticism and I like the gamble on guys like Giddey and Kuminga who have three years of development under their belts. I think young players are taking longer than every to reach their potential and make an impact in today's NBA.

Bulls would have $62m below the tax to re-sign Giddey and Kuminga whose play this year will impact their price tag greatly. But I think they can re-sign both while staying below the tax.


Warriors:

Curry/Podz/Carter
White/Hield
Wiggins/Craig
Green/Anderson
TJD/Looney

White gives the Warriors a much needed other scorer/creator. Craig bring more proven 3&d play to the lineup. Carter in the past has been an impactful 3&d guard who hasn't done that for the Bulls, perhaps a change of scenery brings that back out of him.

We need White's ball handling ability with the loss of Melton. Kuminga needs more minutes, and could improve with that time especially in a different system. It's also rough that JK and Draymond play the same position, hard to keep them both on the floor.

Coby on his contract can get two protected 1sts.

Kuminga due to his contract and lack of development can’t get one 1st. He can’t shoot either which greatly limits his use and future.

Maybe biased but I am not interested in moving Coby for Kuminga at all.

Seems bad for the bulls. But I like Coby a lot and am not sold on Kuminga.

Good for the Bulls but not great until they DO find a trading partner for Vucevic and Lavine. Coby White is not their today problem he becomes a problem when he shows he's a near all start and demands a max contract in a couple of years.They grab the potential to solve an issue at the PF but still have the 2 more pressing problems. They would like to slot Kuminga's next large contract into the space created by moving Lavine while Vucevic is sure not part of the future.

Getting Kuminga allows the Bulls to get a guard back in a Lavine trade but they still need a 5 when they move Vuc. Show me the next two deals

I'm significantly more interested in Kuminga than White, but if he's adamant on getting a max I get it, that's not a promising deal.

Minor, but I'd drop the Craig/Waters swap.
