Bam goes home. Miami rebuilds.

Miami trades: Bam
Charlotte trades: Bridges/Mark/Dal 1st/Miami 1st

Miami obviously do this trade to start the rebuild. They also get their 1st Rd pick back from the Rozier trade. Mark is a nice young center to start their rebuild around. Bridges gives them a wing who can give them some scoring.

Charlotte makes a run for the playoffs by adding Bam. This gives them a core or Melo/Miller/Bam. Also Bam goes home to NC. Maybe he gets back on track to all-star Bam being closer to home.

Who says no?

I imagine OKC and others would outbid this. OKC owns their 2026 unp 1st if miami misses playoffs this year

Do you go into every thread and bring up OKC?

Well yeah OKC can outbid anyone. Doesn't mean they are interested in everyone.

Naw, only ones with a star big that would complete OKCs lineup.

If Miami misses playoffs this year then Charlotte owns Miami 2028 first, unprotected. Which was included in this offer.

I imagine the 2026 1st is more important in an imminent rebuild

What is the best realistic offer OKC can put together?

When Miami rebuilt after Shaq, Riles kept D. Wade. If Miami shifts into rebuild mode, I’d expect they keep Bam and everyone else could be had at a good price.

Charlotte could go for Herro, Jacquez, Jokic, or Butler if you are interested in returning Miami their pick back.

2028 is four drafts away. In a city where it’s currently 80 degrees and other players go to vacation..

Looking at Hartenstein+a prospect and a stack of picks for Bam and seeing OKC can still stay under the tax the next two years? Don’t see why OKC wouldn’t bid. And he’s locked up at least one extra year after that, so a lot of security for the smaller market..

Not that I expect Miami to consider rebuilding when you have Bam/Butler, just don’t really do that… They made a bad trade with Charlotte and need to adjust from it to go on a little run this year - but that’s what I expect..

I suspect the Heat insist on the Hornets 1st as well. I don't know that the Hornets should do that, but this seems light as is.

Don't get me wrong the Thunder still have a bunch of picks they can offer, but unless that Philly pick ends up being super valuable this year the Thunder don't have any super valuable firsts anymore at first glance.

The Heat first could be nice
The Jazz first is probably going to end up 1 2nd rounder.
They have Nuggets firsts in 27/29
Rockets stuff they have doesn't look that great anymore

I don't think its crazy that Miami could value a Hornets offer higher if it included unprotected Charlotte picks along with the potential unprotected Mavs and Heat pick included.

We're rebuilding around Bam, not trading him. Especially not for a light package like this. If you want him, you're going to have to make us an offer we can't refuse, especially considering Charlotte is in the same division! This isn't close.

Yeah Bam in OKC what good are those picks really?

At least with Charlotte you know they have a history of not being very good. I think Charlotte picks would be much more valuable in the short and long term.

I don't think Miami entertains this until they have to, probably would only happen this summer.

Let's say Miami gets into playoffs as the 7 seed and then loses round 1 to someone like Cleveland/Boston 4-1.
Miami sends the 17th pick to Thunder in 2025 draft. Jimmy opts out of contract.

At that point I could see Miami looking to rebuild heading into the summer. but yeah they won't do anything now.

They're not trading Bam at that point. They're rebuilding around he, Herro, and Jaquez. Then they're making trades to try and get better. They're giving Ware, Larrsen, and whatever other youth they've got as much burn as they can handle to asset build.

Yeah, in the offseason when Charlotte has a pick in the top 8ish and Miami has already conveyed their first to OKC. A deal feels a lot more realistic to build up.

But more likely they try to double down and trade 1-2 firsts, swaps, Ware, Rozier, etc for win now help and keep it going…

Just my warmup offer. 8-)

Bam is tricky because is he the kind of guy who can put a team over the hump. I'm not sure if I'm willing to give up multiple picks from the Charlotte side. He makes us a playoff team, but he's not going to make us a contender at least not right away.

I would probably add 1 Charlotte pick if push came to shove.

It really is hard to see Miami going a traditional tear it down route. More likely they would keep Bam and try to clear salary. I think more compounded by the picks owed. But some of that depends on how long the current crew wants to hang around, too.

At the OP price it makes sense to trade for Bam but not sure about adding extra picks.

I think OKC should try get the Miami pick from Charlotte (Dort for Green, Mia 1st, nice fit next to Ball, still multi years left on his deal).

Then do Hartenstein, Green (seems the type of player Miami should be able to mould.), 2 Miami picks as a starter for Bam, Robinson, Hartenstein could be re-routed for another pick.

Cha out: Green, Mia 1st
Cha in: Dort
Significant upgrade over Green.

Mia out: Bam, Robinson
Mia in: Hartenstein, Green, 2 Miami 1sts
Cut 10M in salaries this year, gain back their picks plus whatever they get for Hartenstein. Green should be able to develop in Miami (still young and athletic with a good work ethic).

OKC out: Harenstein, Dort, Miami 1st
OKC in: Bam, Robinson
Upgrade Hatenstein to Bam and shed some future money.

OKC could add some extra later 1sts or young players where needed.
