Schroeder to OKC

Simple idea. BKN wants assets; OKC could use a guy who can score a bit and organize an offense off the bench. Bench O is bad, JDub only minutes aren't cutting it, OKC short on shot creators. Presti doesn't like rocking the boat midseason, but they already know him and he played well here. BKN gets a look at Dieng and a modest asset in return for a guy who's expiring, as well as Kenrich (who's very easily flippable here, he should get a look as a bench guy for a contender).

OKC out:
-Ousmane Dieng
-Kenrich Williams
-a (reasonable) pick. Not the Clippers 2025, for example; maybe the dodgy Utah first or the Heat 2025/26 pick, or a second rounder. I don't know Schroeder's value anymore.

BKN out:
-Dennis Schroeder
-Noah Clowney (included mostly for roster spot, insert 3 million-ish player here)

Lots of possible ways to play this out. Could involve a third team to eat Kenrich. OR you include Dort and work it around DFS and a third team getting Dort, or you make Dort the salary, BKN gets the OKC asset and young players from third team and third team shores up their defensive guard rotation.

Clowney is probably the least likely Net to be traded. He's definitely not a throw-in to a deal, and he has more trade value than Schroder does. Milton or Keon Johnson would be the likeliest throw-ins.

That being said, if we're to believe the reporting that the Nets don't want to take back future money, Williams may be a tough sell.

Clowney isn't a throw in and would need to be removed from the deal but depending on the pick, this can work.

Do we really need another guard? Kind of hoping any move we make is for a 4.

Yeah I think the premise is wrong.

OKC has SGA, Caruso, Cason, JWill all capable of making plays.

They need a bigger body, more of a PF-C.

They need skillset. I wouldn't focus on size over that.

Of those, only SGA is a "primary playmaker" type. Caruso, Cason and JDub (not JWill, he's the PF/C) can all make plays a bit, but they're not "the straw that stirs the drink." It's part of why the bench units have struggled offensively.

I'd rather a bigger playmaker/offensive hub, but point guard is an easy fix.

Clowney is not going to be traded.

Schroeder likely can be dealt for a 1st and an expiring contract. I have no clue which pick or expiring player though.

Let's redo this thought!

Thinking caps then. 3-teamer. Third team is a team that wants to win and could use a Swiss Army knife bench 3/4 AND has an expiring between 6 and 12 million-ish.

OKC sends:
Dieng
Kenrich
Some sort of mid-low value pick

BKN sends:
Schroeder
Cheap, disposable bench guy (say Milton or Johnson) OR fake 2nd if not needed for roster spots

Third team sends:
Expiring guy (between 6-7 million and 12-13 million)
Filler (OR cheap/young guy with a bit of value) OR fake 2nd if not needed
Pick (if no value in the above)

OKC gets:
Schroeder
Filler guy (third team) OR fake third team 2nd (for touch rules)

BKN gets:
Dieng
Expiring (third team)
Pick (OKC)

Third team gets:
Kenrich
Filler guy (BKN) OR fake BKN 2nd (for touch rules)

Any ideas?

I always want Kenrich to Dallas, but Naji has been good in that sort of role. I think for once I'm not your guy?

Yeah, Dallas was the first team I considered and rejected.

okc definitely could use another ball handler. they have lots of wings, but only two real ball handlers. wiggins, wallace, joe, kenrich, these guys are play finishers. schroder would be a fine fit and is expiring.
