So, a trade that adds depth to Mavericks and Clippers, while getting some picks to Detroit who opens up some additional playtime for younger guys.

Dallas adds further depth to address some potential shortcomings. Their depth looks really good at this moment with guys like Grimes and Marshall more than justifying expectations, but a shooting slump or stretch of injuries, and this team looks vulnerable once again, especially if it is injury to one of Gafford or Lively.
Reed gives them further cover at C and PF as versatile defender who can guard out on perimeter too, good rebounder and guys who can even hit some 3s - an upgrade on Kleber on both end of the floor and Fontecchio gives them shooter / scorer off the bench which they currently don't have, and he is a decent defender too.
After this Dallas has really good depth at backup guard / wing positions (Dinwiddie, Grimes, Hardy, Exum), wing / forwards (Marshall Fontecchio, Reed, Omax Prosper) and big men (Gafford, Reed), so they can mix and match depending on the current form of certain players or their opponents matchups, as they have a lot of flexibility to either adapt to, or create a mismatch, which is especially important in Playoffs.
They also open up some salary space to add another guy if necessary (Biyombo?). They give up two 2nd round picks in deep draft, one of which has potential to be quite solid, but they add two good rotation players who are on good contracts going forward. Mavs keep their 1st round pick, and their youth.

Clippers don't have any draft assets to upgrade the team and they lack backup big man, so they use the expiring contract of unplayable PJ Tucker to upgrade to Maxi, who is signed for a year longer, but can give them decent backup minutes behind Zubac, or event some minutes alongside him.

Detroit is starting to fall off slightly, so they opt to move some older players who are not aligned with their younger core, and in turn open more consistent roles and playing time for their younger guys, while saving some money and opening up some cap space for the next summer - Reed is in and out of rotation as they have Duren and Stewart in front of him, while Fontecchio comes off the bench, but his minutes could be distributed among Holland, Thompson and Moore, as they have a lot of options of forward / wing positions (there are also Hardaway, Beasley, T. Harris there).
They pocket some cap savings and add two 2nd round picks, one of which currently looks pretty good (#35) in the deep draft, so there is real potential to add a decent prospect. They also add some experienced vets to the locker room.

Pass for the Pistons. No assets coming our way that are juicy enough to disrupt our team just because. We have a lot of new parts this year and are still building chemistry, but overall depth is our strength.
Our young guys have gotten plenty of playing time as well, so that’s a bit of a solution in search of a problem.

Hard pass. Makes no sense for the Pistons. Tek provides spacing off the bench, at a position its needed.

Depth isn't a dallas need really. I like the players okay but they aren't upgrades to Maxi and klay.

Another proposal where Detroit facilitates with their cap space but doesn’t get squat in return. And in this case giving away assets. 2nd round picks are not worth that much.

There are several teams that will want Detroit’s cap space between now and the trade deadline. Detroit should be patient and get a better deal.

The biggest issue, other than lack of real return, is that Fontecchio and Reed aren’t clogging anything. Our glut is at the 2/3, which Reed definitely is not and Font isn’t defensively (him guarding scoring wings is a bad idea).

Reed is 4th/5th big (3rd center, mostly) and doesn’t matter much except when Duren plays like a bonehead. Font is the shooting backup 3/4 and gets consistent minutes, FYI.

Wouldn't hate it for the Clippers, but also don't really love it. Yeah, Maxi is obviously an upgrade to the corpse of PJ, but the extra year and his injury concerns are a cause for pause. Also, just as obvious, if those warts didn't exist, Dallas wouldn't consider moving him.

I'd try to package PJ and Bones together to get an expiring backup 4/5 to a team that hopes to use Bones as a reclamation project. But assuming that fails, which I would expect it too, I'd be content with taking a chance on Maxi

Aren't all the players incoming for the Pistons expiring, except for Powell's 4M option next season? With Tek outgoing, doesn't this give us more cap next season? Seconds aren't great but they are currency and I don't see how we're giving up cap, at least next season. Reed doesn't play and Tek is JAG.

The cap the Pistons are giving up is this season, right? And basically no one else has cap space to sell, so it should fetch a better price than this. ….I hope.

Pistons sending out 15.4M and getting 17.6M this season by my math. So two SRPs for 2.2M this season but cutting 3.7 M (Tek v Powell) for next season.

I misread and thought it was more than that. It is still cap space this year that could be used in a bigger deal.
