THT is probably the worst NBA player the Jazz have had in the last 15 years. I don't see this for the Lakers even without the pick, tbh. DLo is so much better than what they get back. For Utah I don't like the value at all.

Yeah THT is just playmaking backup for Lakers. He's not a main piece.
Lonzo, Reaves, Knecht, LeBron, Davis -- Christie, Reddish, Vando, Rui, Smith -- JHS, Bronny, THT, Lewis, WoodDLo is having a down year and expiring, I don't think he brings much value back. Ball and DLo are roughly similar value, it's Vincent for Smith that requires Lakers to give up compensation.
I wasn't sure if Bulls were giving up enough value for Kessler though, perhaps they need to up the offer in this deal, maybe their future FRP instead of the Portland one.

DLo is having a down year, but Ball isn't having a year (and to the extent that he is, is much worse than DLo).

Yeah no thanks, you had me until we were sending out Smith.

You are getting Kessler, who is much better, and getting DLo who is better than current Ball for the cost of what amounts to two seconds. This is a no brainer for Chicago.

I rather keep Ball than take Russell.

Kessler is definitely intriguing but as the Bulls I'd ask Pelinka why he wants the relative nobody Smith instead of my red hot shooting experienced veteran all star Vucevic who's even on a shorter contract.

The Bulls are +8/100 when Lonzo is on the court it's not clear to me swapping him for Dlo who plays a completely different style that duplicates Coby White and Zach LaVine improves the team.

The return the Lakers are getting in this transaction is not enticing enough for them to give up their 2027 FRP unless they someone get Kessler as part of the equation, even if the principle of this deal is for the Lakers to shred bad contracts and players.

They already did give it up. It belongs to Utah, top 4 protected. This just removes the protection.

Ah my mistake. That makes more sense for the Lakeshow then (although it probably means they will be a less competitive team for the short term

I rather keep Ball than take Russell.
Even so, do you prefer Smith+Ball over DLo+Kessler?

Yes because Russell is that useless.

This is the same only worse for the Bulls
Compare Vincent with Javon Carter and aside from Vincent's higher salary what's the difference? So why do the Bulls need both of them?
I'd rather keep Ball than take on DLo.
If Kessler was so good why would he be on the block? Is he really better than Smith?
So the Bulls give up the imaginary pick and THT for nothing.
Worse than most Laker trades for the Bulls

Lakers already traded their '27 pick to the Jazz. It would need to be the '29FRP.
Seems good for the Bulls and Jazz. Terrible for the Lakers -- Ball is an expiring and has injury concerns, Smith is a back up, and THT is not a playoff rotation guy. Lakers should not trade yet another 1st round pick unless it makes them a contender and this trade gets them nowhere close to that.

Seems like the Bulls are the big winners in this deal, so strange to see the Bulls fans giving the most pushback.
Lonzo is probably gone after this year, Portland first seems like a mirage based on how good the West. Jalen Smith is a nice backup, but Kessler is a guy that can actually take over as a starter post Vuc, I have doubts Smith is that type of player.

Bulls get the best player in the trade in Kessler..
If you don't think that then sure the trade falls apart.
