George for Butler?

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Fri Dec 13, 2024 8:55 pm

How much (if any) does Philly have to add in a george for butler swap? Will need to involve a 3rd team so Miami is taking back less salary. Would Miami want to keep George or send him to another team?

This always seemed like a plausible option. Embid wanted Butler this past summer and Miami could use George’s outside shooting. I think Philly might have to add some incentive (2026 FRP).

Heat didnt resign Butler because of age and amount/ length of contract. Miami rather keep Butler than the often injured George

Yeah, I wouldn't be in favor of this for Miami. I don't trust George to stay healthy any more than I trust Jimmy to, and Jimmy is the better player IMO so I'd rather just keep him.

No shot at Butler to Philly. We already had him and didn’t win. I like are chances a lot more with George!

I feel like George has the contract that Miami doesn't want to give to Butler. If Miami was willing to give a deal matching the last 3 years of George's contract to Butler this summer (or as an extension now which I think is possible) then they'd just keep Butler.

This feels like the gist of it. Had they offered that to Butler this summer, I think he signs it and they both carry on. Miami doesn't think that's a good idea and were quite public about it. I think they feel like Butler doesn't have better options than opting in and they are okay with this year and next.

Now if some team makes an offer they like, maybe they do deal him, but I think they feel okay about where they are at with Jimmy.
