I have Miami "winning" as maybe they move up in the 2nd round for a guy who feels like is a street level center.

I always liked him but he never seemed to find a consistent role in Miami's rotation. He's got talent.

I think this is more about converting Dru Smith

The Heat will have two open roster spots after this, right? Is this just a precursor to a Butler one-for-three trade for them?

Look out, Cleveland. Beware, Boston. OKC, you're RIP.

Bryant can do some things on the court, but none of them are on the defensive end. I have this as a bit of a curious move for the Pacers.

Seems pretty “win-win-win” type of trade. Indy finally gets a healthy backup big man. Bryant gets a major role. Miami clears tax space and minutes for Ware.

They were at 14 man before rhis and wont clear any capspace after adding another player to make the 14 man roster. Just win-win :P

The fact that the man they're adding is Dru Smith makes it a win for Miami, for sure. He's been a huge spark for us.

Yeah, it’s real minor. But agree with Scoot. Win win win.

Miami getting anything to open the roster spot and maintaining some room under second apron is a win.

Seems good to me.

Cool to see an actual trade.

Good start to the trade season.

Pacers making moves , Eastern team have to keep up if they want make the playoffs and western team have to follow if they don’t want to lose the finals again.

I hope .

Pacers needed a backup center on a minimum contract. Done.

They'll clear a little space. Go 2 weeks before filling the spot, and then a ROS deal with a Dru Smith or other vet minimum would be a little less than Bryant's was, as it'll be from, say, 12/29 or 1/1 (if this Bryant deal doesn't go down on 12/15, but rather 12/16) to the end of season, rather than a full season of a vet minimum. Or, it'd be even less if they sign a 0 or 1 yos player to a minimum exception.

They could clear around $1m if they go with a 0 or 1 yos guy, and the commensurate luxury taxes from that. That's not nothing. :dontknow:

I mean, a second round pick swap in seven years? Bryant is at least serviceable, seems very solid for the Pacers.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
