Recent trade rumors on Vuc that can be seen here - https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-warriors-lakers-among-teams-nikola-vucevic-trade-interest
Most of those teams make sense but the Pistons inclusion really took me by surprise considering they have Duren, Stewart, and Reed but it also led me to thinking "what would a Detroit trade for Vuc even look like?"
Which led me to:
Chicago in: Paul Reed, Tim Hardway Jr., and TOR 2025 2nd
Detroit in: Nikola Vucevic and Chris Duarte
Why for Chicago:
Tim Hardway is an expiring contract which frees up 2025 cap space in Chicago. Reed steps in as part of the center rotation and at 25 years old continues the theme of recent Bulls moved in getting younger players. And the Toronto 2nd could be a decent pick based on their record so far. Chicago helping Detroit directly helps them keep their pick.
Why for Detroit:
Well I guess Vuc would be the best center on the roster and therefore an upgrade. Detroit did acquire several other veteran players this summer and seems focused on fighting for a playoff or play-in spot this year. Vuc has been on fire offensively this year and would provide additional shooting for Detroit. Duarte is mainly here for salary purposes but does provide Detroit with an additional wing.
Again, thought Detroit being mentioned was interesting, but in terms of what a Vuc to Detroit trade would even be what are the thoughts here?
Vucevic, on the other hand, is drawing interest from the Warriors, Lakers, Pelicans, and Pistons, sources said. Several other teams may very well emerge as suitors for Vucevic ahead of the trade deadline given his production and experience.”
