Chicago and Detroit: Vucevic to MoTown

Recent trade rumors on Vuc that can be seen here - https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-warriors-lakers-among-teams-nikola-vucevic-trade-interest

Vucevic, on the other hand, is drawing interest from the Warriors, Lakers, Pelicans, and Pistons, sources said. Several other teams may very well emerge as suitors for Vucevic ahead of the trade deadline given his production and experience.”

Most of those teams make sense but the Pistons inclusion really took me by surprise considering they have Duren, Stewart, and Reed but it also led me to thinking "what would a Detroit trade for Vuc even look like?"

Which led me to:

Chicago in: Paul Reed, Tim Hardway Jr., and TOR 2025 2nd

Detroit in: Nikola Vucevic and Chris Duarte

Why for Chicago:
Tim Hardway is an expiring contract which frees up 2025 cap space in Chicago. Reed steps in as part of the center rotation and at 25 years old continues the theme of recent Bulls moved in getting younger players. And the Toronto 2nd could be a decent pick based on their record so far. Chicago helping Detroit directly helps them keep their pick.

Why for Detroit:
Well I guess Vuc would be the best center on the roster and therefore an upgrade. Detroit did acquire several other veteran players this summer and seems focused on fighting for a playoff or play-in spot this year. Vuc has been on fire offensively this year and would provide additional shooting for Detroit. Duarte is mainly here for salary purposes but does provide Detroit with an additional wing.

Again, thought Detroit being mentioned was interesting, but in terms of what a Vuc to Detroit trade would even be what are the thoughts here?

Yeah I guess I'd do it.. I'm not thrilled about it though.
I understand the current market with picks, but I can't help but think with the year Vuc is having. A top 10 protected 1st or similar would be ideal value both ways IMO

This is the best Vuc has been as a Bull. Can't help but think it is because DDR isn't in the space Vuc likes to operate. I imagine his numbers will decline over the season to 19 and 10, shooting 36-37% from 3.

That's an awesome centre and worth of a 1st with a year to run.

I agree-it's not terrible, but we'd like to get more for him
I like it for Det-adding a vet like Vuc would REALLY help Cade, and he can play some with Duran

seems like a good deal for the Pistons. Vuc isn't a long term piece but Pistons are so desperate for putting a winning team on the floor, I don't think they particularly care either. It's not like they are giving up anything valuable in the deal.

I'm surprised Bulls fans would even consider this. They are virtually giving away a guy who is the best player in the trade by a mile.

Vuc is playing very well this year. A bit less terrible on D, and very good on O
But, we NEED to keep our pick (top 10 protected).

Trade Vuc, White and Lavine and play the young guys a ton. If Ayo/Matas/Giddy/Ball/Smith/Phillips/PWill/Ball force us to win enough to lose our pick, fine.
But Vuc playing like a marginal AS, along with Lavine (much better on D and better playmaking) has us give up a #12 pick, we'll be pissed

I think I saw someone post this in the past week but it was Stewart not Reed and Carter more money for Duarte. The expiring THJ is worth getting back even if he sits

I'm ready to do either. Smith with Stewart or Reed is a good combo because it frees up some shots in the offense for Dosunmu and Williams maybe even Ball. The Bulls are getting Vuc more shots within the offense and closer to the basket than in the past
3 years, maybe to pump up his value for a trade

If the DET fans want to say Duren is not playing well and you think he's NOT the guy you drafted, the Bulls will take that gamble

No deal unless it's for Stewert and filler!

Reed has been waived.

Since DET still has cap space, THJ for Vucevic will work just fine, and I'd spend an SRP on Vucevic

Not a fan of Vucevic, but for this price tag, sure... feels like an overreaction from the Bulls though.

With Paul Reed now gone, could be Vucevic for Fontecchio and a second. Will be interesting to see - Detroit essentially has to make a move in the next 24 hours to reach the salary floor.
