A decent fit if it’s cheap.
And good for Brooklyn getting anything for one of the vets that has impacted their planned tank.

Only makes sense if it's with the crappiest 1st they've got (really convoluted worst of Suns/Rockets/whatever). Otherwise 2/3 SRPs should suffice.

3 2nds for 1 2nd, in line with expectation, not worth a 1st...

Guessing a top 55 protected going back to GS so they can trade “something” as a touch later on, and 3 actual 2nds of some variety to Brooklyn. But yeah, not a first. Not Kuminga. Seems about right.

Getting an upgrade without even using the 2025 1st is pretty good for GS.
I do worry about how quickly Schroeder can fit it as not everyone fits into the Warriors motion offense quickly (IMO a reason why they rarely make midseason deals).

Yeah this was always the right return. And GSW has a need. This is just a good smart trade we've discussed here.

So, GS has their own 2nds in 2029, 2030, and the lesser of theirs and Minnesota’s 2nds in 2031. They also own Atlantas 2nds in 2026 and 2028. So, 3 of those are out, and GS clearly needs a top 55 protected back just for touch in trades.
Though, maybe they’re getting the Miami 2nd this year that Brooklyn owns? Like, pay out 3 2nds in the future to get a sooner one? They did similar in the CoJo salary dump to Indy last year.

Sorely tempted to bump that thread where certain posters were insisting Schroeder was worth Kuminga and/or a 1st

Might have a two way player involved, too.

Who was it who said it was gonna cost GSW Kuminga + a 1st round pick to get Schroder? lol, not even close. That guy needs to check himself into the sanitarium for like 30 days of long walks and gentle baths, lol

Will be interested to see the final picks involved, but 2-3 seconds, a two-way prospect, and an expiring contract for an expiring Dennis Schröder feels right value wise.
It’ll be interesting to see how Dennis Schröder does with a reduced role.

So on this board we have a long standing policy of letting posters own their misses. I would hope those posters would show up itt and simply say yeah I thought his value was higher, guess I was wrong.
We all get stuff wrong. No shame in that. As long as you own it. Now if those posters come in and say we love this 2-way guy even more than Kuminga and our GM is playing chess, then yeah probably don't take them seriously on topics for awhile.

Yea, no shame on that poster, I said what I said in a joking manner just busting the guys chops not as an attack

Nice!!
The only thing I'm surprised about is the Nets and Warriors both wanted to pull the trigger right away -- I would have thought Brooklyn would have wanted to wait and see if it could get better offers by the deadline, and GS might have wanted to see what else was out there. But I guess both sides did their homework and decided now was the time. It makes more sense for GS, who need help now after the record has dropped post-Melton injury. This was the price I wanted to pay, rare you get that in a trade so I am happy.

This is what bench players on market rate contracts are worth - an expiring contract and a handful of 2nds. Every once in a while you see a team with excess draft capital send a current, protected 1st for this level of player - like the Knicks did with Josh Hart (but the Knicks overpay for everyone).

Oh yeah no doubt. I didn't think you were really attacking anyone.
Just eating crow is a big part of the culture here. And its an important one where we argue over value. We all like to thump our chests when we are right. But luckily most here also can laugh at themselves when they get something really wrong. And so we have an annual thread even to own our bad takes.

No strong PG to lead the way suggests motivation towards selling for a tank.
I wonder if selling Shröder makes it more likely Nets deal Cam Johnson. Maybe they have something really good going on on negotiations for Cam Johnson on multiple fronts.
