Lakers finally make a MOVE

The market for CamJo is competitive. Lebron needs help fast. So does AD and Rob P to keep his job!
The Lakers remove a few headaches fast and give up some draft assets for help now and through 3 seasons + with a perfect compliment to Lebron and AD.
Lakers send JHS and DLO (two expiring) with the 2028 and 2030 unprotected 1sts for Cameron Johnson from BK.
LAL instantly gets better and likely makes one more deal before the deadline to bring in one more rotational player to round out their needs.
BK goes full tank and bottoms out into the bottom 4 worst records by season's end with this deal.

Cam Johnson isn't worth two future unprotected picks.

LOL WHAT IS THIS?
2 possibly very good 1sts, both unprotected, and expirings for CamJ.......
Didnt Dennis just get 2 2nds basically and an injured expiring Melton?

The Lakers need legitimate two-way players, and not just one of them. If you want them to part with two unprotected 1sts, you've got to send them Cam, DFS, Sharpe, and bend a little on the no future salary back.

Even if you push the picks back to 2029 and 2031 to make it CBA legal I'd say this is a terrible idea for the Lakers.
Cam Johnson increases the Lakers odds of making the playoffs, but they still aren't title relevant. Meanwhile giving up future 1sts during their upcoming rebuild just isn't a good plan.

My thought was something like:
DLo, Vincent, Vanderbilt, other filler + 2029 LAL 1st + 2031 LAL 1sts for Claxton and Johnson, but it felt like Claxton was just tooo much of a luxury. I think one of those picks should be sufficient for Johnson.

Nets shouldn't get the best matching salary and 2 unprotected picks. Wish we would stop with these absurd asks for our team all the time. Let the Lakers pick the matching, unprotect the first pick, reasonably protect the 2nd, have the Nets kick back a chunk of 2nds to give the Lakers currency for other stuff.
That's how you maybe get 2 1sts including an unprotected on for your guy. Not like this.

Would need to swap DLo with Vincent and Vanderbilt and make both picks something like Top 7>Second to make it considerable. But, even then, this is quite an atrocious move for the Lakers

They Lakers are a popular free agent destination.
For all we know Kyrie signs there after Lebron retires.
I fail to understand how the 2027 and 2029 first rounders are so valuable, especially if one or both of them are protected.
The draft is a crap shoot and players go bust all the time.
Many of these trade threads don't put a lot of value on Cam Johnson or DFS but the Nets gave up KD and Kyrie to get these two players on the roster.
Both players are on great cap friendly contracts.
DFS may be on the wrong side of 30 but Cam is only 28 and could fit the Nets timeline if they decide to keep him.
It would seem with the small window Lebron gives them that the Lakers should be more motivated to make a deal than the Nets who can just wait until the trade deadline for DFS and could wait until next year on Cam if they don't just keep him.
With three late first rounders it is quite possible that the Nets could be planning on using Cam to move up on draft day.
I think that if the Lakers did trade for Cam he would be a starter for them and that they really have to choose between paying up and winning now or playing it cheap and watching someone else get a chip as Lebron gets another year older.

Your neglecting that far out unprotected picks are VERY valuable. The only reason that one is even being discussed is because Cam/DFS, etc can be seen as somewhat to very valuable. LA has produced MANY top 7 picks in the last 10 or so years. The Buss family doesn’t have the money like they used to, and the league has caught up to them, and surpassed them, in spending. Sure, the Lakers are a name, but we have to see if they have the same pull going forward now that Ballmer is also in LA, and there’s so many others willing to outspend them.
It’s not an insult. Don’t view it as such. It’s a compliment to your guys.

What exactly is the trade that will get the Lakers a chip ? Might not even have a trade out there that can guarantee them getting out West .
Edit - depending on the pieces that complete the trade , I think cam is worth an unprotected first. The second protected first really depends on what else lakers get.

Lightly protect one of them. Problem Solved here.
Or just let the Nets keep CamJo and maybe the Lakers can still win a title this season? IDK

What in the blue world is going on with realgm this week? In the last day or two we've had
2 unprotected picks for CamJo
Kuzma, Poole, JV for Zion, CJ
Tobias for Jafro/Dean Wade
How can any of these be even remotely justified?

CamJo is the best potentially available trade candidate by a mile. He is worth likely 2 1sts (we can argue about the protections but who really cares about that when he instantly makes your team a credible threat to win 10-15 more games with the right roster around him (two other stars who give him open shots)).

Lol ok I thought the Schroder trade might have been a reality check for Nets' fans wild overvaluations of their role players, but I guess not.

Lakers are probably gonna win low 40's this year. The west winner will win mid 50's most likely. You think Camjo propels the Lakers from a play in team to contender? Because if the Lakers are giving their final assets away, they need to have a team that can actually win a title.
Camjo is nice, but he's not that nice. He maybe makes a fringe contender like Denver right now into a contender, but he's not changing the Lakers fortunes. That team has too many problems

This is, to put it mildly, ridiculous.
Only one player last year had 15+ win shares last year and it was Nikola freakin' Jokic. Lower the threshold to 10 win shares and you're looking at ten guys whose names you'll probably recognize: SGA, Giannis, Luka, Tatum, etc.
Saying Cameron Johnson is worth 10+ wins is objectively false.

If that is the calculus then the Lakers alternative is to blow it up and sell Lebron (and his son) to the highest bidder.
