Only two questions from the Nets end (I am assuming you already looked this stuff up).

How much more (or less salary) do we pay this year?

How much are the incoming players costing us against the 2026 cap?

If neither or these are too crazy I think the Nets could be on board with this trade.

We don't need Smart, we have perimeter defenders for days.

Nets come in under the luxury this year and Kennard/Landale/Tate/Green is 34 million in expiring money.

Given the Rockets were interested this summer and still have checked in on Smart I believe Ime wants more. Expirings, 2 2nds and returning the Nets swap is a reasonable price for Smart given the Rockets position.

Sure, I'd take him for expiring's and 2nds.

Not including that swap though, he isn't worth that.

The Nets request the cancellation of the HOU-PHX '25 swap be added. I don't think they'd be enthusiastic of including Watford & Wilson and returning older players.

Rather just keep Aldama and Smart, and trade Kennard and an asset for DFS. No big need for both Brooklyn guys, and no desire to tie up our future drafts.

I concur. I just don’t see the problem this trade would solve for Memphis. Aldama alone will soon be better than either Cam and DFS.

I think DFS is the likely target given fit and contract. But I am not a Santi fan in regards to him helping in real games. He has struggled in every big game this year and I would not be comfortable paying him mid level money unless he becomes a consistent player against playoff teams.

Nets can keep Wilson and Watford they are simply salary fillers but I doubt either guy becomes a rotation player if the Nets are actually rebuilding. No need for additional swaps, Nets getting control of their 27 1st is more than enough value.

The Rockets want to win without disrupting their young core this move allows them to add another player Ime trust. Adding that swap for a top 8 rotation player is likely an easy yes for them.

Thank you, but no.

We need to save our assets for the next star that comes, shooting, or a rim protector.

Smart is none of that, and would not be a good use of valuable assets.

Sounds waaaay too good for the Nets, I have both Grizzlies and Rockets passing easily. At most I'd try to frame this as a 2 way trade between Nets and Grizzlies for DFS in exchange for a expiring filler + 4 SRPs, or 1 protected pick + 1 SRP returned or so.

Rockets have a serious, nightmarish shooting inefficiency problem. I wouldn’t co-sign adding Smart with him expecting 25 mpg.

There is a difference between “being a fan” and the reality in which Aldama is a young and skillfull seven-footer who is still far from his ceiling, unlike DFS who is just a role veteran.

I tough Memphis would like to keep Jake LaRavia more than Vince. So after this trade I see something like this for Memphis

Ja Morant/Scotty Pippen Jr.
Desmond Bane/Jaylen Wells
Cam Johnson/Dorian Finney Smith,
Jaren Jackson Jr./Brandon Clarke
Zach Edey/Jay Huff

+Vince and GG

I probobly missed on depth chart some, but this team is legitimetly 12 deep. So would Jake be used than or no to him too?

Nope. We value Vince>>>>>>LaRavia. Vince is on a sweetheart deal and would likely be starting if he was healthy right now. I doubt we have any interest in CamJ on his salary and our needs and the asking price. DFS is the likely target here. Zero need for both.
