Lavine to Orl (3rd team like Det or LAL)

I think this makes Orl contenders, if healthy

Lavine and Port pick to Orl
Howard, Harris, expiring deal from LAL or Det (DLo or Hardaway) to Chi, plus the Den pick
KCP to Lakers or Det

Lakers or Det take KCP back and a vet shooter/defender

Chi cuts a TON of future salary and gets a more immediate 1st-plus they get a look a Howard

Orl goes for it
Suggs/Anthony
Lavine/Black
Franz/da Silva
Paolo/Isaac
Carter/Mo/Goga

That is a deep, fun team. Lavine's defense is not nearly as bad as many think, and he's scoring VERY efficiently again. Plus, he's passing a bit better

Paolo is still out, Franz is out until next year. Magic will wait to see more than 5 games with this roster before doing anything, let alone destroying any ability to do anything else ever with Lavine and his league worst contract.

I don't think I want the Magic team to become a second apron team for LaVine and a Portland pick that probably becomes 2 2nds.

This pretty sums up Lavine to Orlando

However, it comes down to the fact that the Magic would have to break that team up as early as next year. I don't agree with how Minnesota cut costs, but their moves this offseason is a great example of how important it is for teams to stay below the second tax apron.

With a potential Lavine trade, the Magic's payroll next year would be:

Lavine: 46mm
F.Wagner: 38.6m
Suggs: 35m
KCP: 21.6m
Banchero: 15.3m
Carter: 10.85m
Bitadze: 8.3m
Black: 8m

Thats over 183m for 8 players.

That makes it virtually impossible to avoid the second apron.

That's assuming you don't pick up any of your other team options, including that of Mo Wagner's.

That means you basically only have vet minimums to fill out the rest of your roster unless you manage to dump some salary, not to mention the other restrictions that come with being over the second apron....and that's excluding the Extension you have to give to Banchero which will kick in for 26-27.

Basically, a Lavine trade would only make sense if it makes the Magic a legitimate contender, as early as this year or next. Even if ends up being a great fit basketball wise, it's a terrible fit financial wise and timeline wise.

Before the new CBA, sure, I would tell the Magic to go for it, assuming the ownership was willing to spend more on the luxury tax. But in the current CBA, it's not just about how much the ownership spends....it's a whole other level of restrictions that makes this incredibly unlikely from the Orlando side.

Also, moving KCP only a half a season in whiling having their two best players out is nonsensical and will never happen.

I’m a Lavine fan too and would welcome him in Orlando with open arms, however wish he didn’t make as much as he does.

I dont think Lavine has this value. He's Kevin Martin on a max deal

ORL is probably happy. You've got to explain how trading one guard for 2 or 3 is of any value to the Bulls.

Harris and DLo are 100% expiring contracts who aren't going to return so the Bulls don't want to waste minutes on either of them. You don't want to sit Giddey, White, Dosunmu or Ball for either of them. There is only a slight chance that Howard ever gets in a game. Getting THJ is only marginally better because he can play the 3 but since he's old and expiring don't you want to get more minutes for Williams, Phillips and Buzelis because they have futures with the Bulls?

Add to that now the Bulls have 17 players so who do they send packing? any of the new expensive guys they just got, THT, Terry, who are playing, Craig, Carter or Duarte who mostly aren't?

KCP wouldnt be on the roster next year in a lavine trade, so its 161M for 7 players

I think if Zach was on a two year deal, you could take this chance and hope to keep him for a lot less once Paolo gets paid…. But would pass for Orlando on being a tax team next year and unaffordable the following year. Not over LaVine..

Keeping KCP and trading a first for Sexton is cheaper next year and makes for a much better team.

Intriguing but Lavine's deal is just too much, considering his track record, imo.

I'd much rather have Sexton at around $20m, as ORL really only offers a more limited role for a backcourt scorer (as much as they lack that). Paolo & Franz will always eat first.

I had some similar thoughts about sending KCP to a Western contender (like LAL or DEN) in a 3-way, where the recipient basically pays the draft equity needed to get a better fitting younger playmaker...but I'm struggling to put one together that I like. I'm certainly not in any hurry to unload KCP but, imo, he'd be very appealing to a contender and probably more valuable to them than to ORL, who has Suggs and Black, who do the same and maybe more with a lot less mileage on the tires.

KCP wont fetch you much draft equity with the way he's shooting this year

Maybe...I don't know that FO's would go with "he just forgot how to shoot" (yet)...it's a slump, imo, he's not injured or lagging at all defensively. He has had a couple of really good games despite his overall weak shooting so far.

Mr. Beal would like a word. Lavine is only the 2nd worst contract.

I think Coby White is a much better fit for ORL with age and price. He’s a Hugh volume 3pt shooter that can create his own shot too. 15M for two more seasons is great value.

I’d want a 1st and a prospect. Goga or TDS. Prob Cole coming back.

Not Goga but Id do TDS/Jett + Magic/denver 1st whichever is higher, but lottery protected. Add a couple of 2nds.

Don’t want 2nds. If we are taking on Cole’s bad contract we’d want Goga. Probably TDS over Jett. Want best of ORL/DEN pick. Top 10 protected this year. Top 8 protected next.

id pass on that. Not trading Goga, he's a starting level player paid like a 3rd string player. I wouldnt trade Goga alone for White TBH, the Magic need him.

If I were you I wouldn’t trade him either.

I do think AK would settle for Cole TDS and a 1st

If Orl wants CWhite, how about Howard, Harris and the Den pick?

That seems light…why would CHI jettison CWhite anyway? I understand a rebuild starting with older guys, but couldn’t White be a keeper (or ask for more)? Orlando would love him.

Isn’t there some difficulty on re-signing him? Like a cap based on previous modest deal- like Monk situation?

Hard to extend Coby, due to his deal being low
I like him, but I like Ayo more. Coby is VERY inconsistent and his D is weak. I think he'd help Orl, but we can't keep playing him and Giddy big minutes
