Lakers trade: Russell/29 LAL 1st(top 8, top 4, top 1, 2 2nds)
Lakers get: Sexton
Clippers trade: Tucker/Hyland/31 LAC 2nd/cash
Clippers get: Russell
Jazz trade: Sexton
Jazz get: Tucker/Hyland/29 LAL 1st/31 LAC 2nd
Obviously Utah can cut the Clippers out here, but they take on a bit less salary and pick up a 2nd and they want to tank.
Jazz get a lightly protected 1st for Sexton
Lakers get a more aggressive perimeter scorer on an affordable deal.
Clippers get a guy who should help their bench offense

Sexton needs to be hidden and there’s nowhere to hide on that LA defense. I don’t see them paying for that privilege.

Re: Utah and LA squared
Take the Clippers out of the deal unless they really want DLo. It's possible the Jazz just cut him at the deadline if they acquire him anyway. Maybe Clips can make a smaller deal for Clarkson.
To Utah: DLo + Hood-Schifino + Max Lewis + take protection off '27 FRP + '28 swap
To Lakers: Sexton + Eubanks
Utah gets a look at some kids. The '27 FRP gets unprotected and maybe Utah is good enough by '28 that the Laker swap will be valuable. The Lakers get an efficient scoring, athletic guy in Sexton that can turn the corner and get past his man to the basket. Eubanks is an under the radar decent backup center that can grab boards, block an occasional shot and even make the occasional 3.
Lakers can use the '29 FRP to find a perimeter defender (DFS?)

Re: Utah and LA squared
I don't think LAL should be sending a first here, 2 2nds seems more appropriate. Expirings + 4 2nds seems like what you take if a team doesn't offer a protected first. As is we can't say yes fast enough IMO.

With or without the Clips, this works for Utah. I like it all the way around.

Re: Utah and LA squared
Utah would send Collins and Sexton for removing protections on their 26 pick and draft swap rights on a year of their choosing that becomes 2 second round draft picks if the swap is not conveyed.
I think Ainge would do that. Not sure it’s the best use of those two guys as assets, but Utah has to take big risks and Ainge is praying that 26 pick becomes top 4.
I could be wrong, but I honestly think something like this happens. Utah and LA just seem like perfect trade partners. It’s a high risk swing by Utah and a chance for LA to get back two players who can help now without trading guaranteed picks in 29 and 31.
Just my two cents.

Re: Utah and LA squared
If the Lakers are going to trade a lightly protected pick 5 years out (they shouldn't), they should basically hold a reverse auction on it and see what the best package/player they can gef for it. They're basically the only team willing to trade a pick with that type of upside, and every seller understands that once that pick is traded, there aren't more on the market.

Re: Utah and LA squared
The difference between Sexton and D'Lo isn't a lightly protected FRP. Back to the drawing board.

Re: Utah and LA squared
I would do the OP. You could even increase the protections to 8, 6, 4 and I'd still do it.

Re: Utah and LA squared
Dlo has averaged about 17 ppg while playing behind AD / LeBron. Sexton is at about 18 ppg on a team without LeBron/ AD.
Even if we ignore the play making gap. I don’t see Lakers seeing Sexton is worth a first for 1 extra ppg. Some seconds to experiment on a change of scenery sure.
