GS/BKN/SAC/WAS-Combining Kuzma/DeMarr/Kuminga rumors

Basing this on:

Kings long time interest in Kuzma and the DeRozan deal not working out.
Warriors interest in DeRozan over the years
Nets rumored interest in Kuminga.

GS trades: Kuminga, GP2, Kyle Anderson and Kevon Looney
Receives: DeMarr DeRozen, Trendan Watford, Shake Milton and Keon Johnson

Hate to give up both SloMo and Looney, but due to being hard capped at the apron, only way for GS to add a key piece in the $20 mil range, without including Steph/Dray/Wiggins/Schroder, is a 3 for 1 deal-and the only way to get the roster to 14 is to do a reverse 3 for 1 with Loon’s 8 mil and assorted 2-3 mil contracts.
GS has an offense problem, especially down the stretch of games. DeRozan solves that giving GS the reigning clutch award winner and the runner up.

Nets trade: Watford, Milton, Johnson, 2nd round picks to be negotiated
Receive: Jonathan Kuminga

Nets rumored to have interest in Kuminga get to test him out and control his restricted rights for a low cost.

Kings trade: DeMarr DeRozen
Receive: Kyle Kuzma

Kings deal a guy who hasn’t been a great fit for one they hope that will be.

Wizards trade: Kyle Kuzma
Receive: GP2, SloMo, Looney, 2nd round pick draft capital to be negotiated

Wiz get cap relief in GP2 and Loon’s expirings (plus Poole’s good friend and mentor in Loon) and 2nd round pick(s) for Kuzma as the rebuild continues.

Please be gentle

I agree the Warriors need to make a move for an offensive player, but I don't view DeRozan as the guy. With limited assets, I'd rather target someone else. I also don't like adding another older player unless you are shipping one out (say Draymond). Value-wise I don't think you are far off though except I think the Wizards are getting the short end of the stick.

I think DeRozan makes sense as it adds another person that can get to the basket, which GS needs. I prefer the vet route for these last couple years with Steph. Save the develop the young guys phase for when Steph, Dray and Kerr ride off into the sunset and the Dubs start over with cap space and all their draft picks.

Consensus seems to be Kuzma is only going to bet second round draft capital in trade, so this seems fair. Don’t see them being interested in DeRozan or Kuminga, though if they wanted JK I guess it’s possible to amend the deal without the Nets. Or if the Kings prefer Cam Johnson, without the Wiz-but the cost goes up on the Kings end to please Brooklyn.

If GS would be dumb enough to give Kuminga for Derozan we just cut everyone else here out and figure out a deal directly with them. No shot I'm taking kuzma over kuminga

Warriors should have traded Kuminga for Cam when they had the chance.

The price might have gone up given the performance of the two teams since the last trade.

Eh, I'm not feeling that for Golden State. No thanks.

Wizards really don't need cap relief. They have to meet the salary floor and Kuzma is a good teammate. I don't think Washington does this unless GSW lower the protections on the 2031 pick they owe, which I don't think they would be interested in.

How are the Nets trading a bag of meh and second round picks to be negotiated later and coming away with Kuminga? Is it just me, or are they stealing value here?

Fair. Could definitely be an argument for expanded pick responsibilities on Brooklyn’s part to GS and maybe Sac provides a second to the Wiz

This would help Sac just by knocking the Warriors out of the playoffs. Demar would be horrific for them.

Cam is a better player than Kuminga.

Sure, Kuminga might have more upside but what has he shown us that justifies the contract he will demand next year?

Used to think that, and was never a fan of him on GS previously, but I think he makes more sense on the current roster that is in dire need of offense.

I think the Warriors are going to pursue someone in the $20 mil+ range, doing the 3 for 1/1 for 3 deal, be it DeRozan, Cam Johnson, Vucevic, Kuzma (bleh) or someone else making around that much. I think DeRozan makes the most sense from a cost standpoint.

I couldn't disagree more. Draymond would probably kill him for one thing.

They're not trading Cam. They're trading Keon.

Yeah, maybe cut out the other teams and add Keon Ellis as a cheap defensive guard to the Warriors? Might work in concert with a Fox trade if the Warriors need another asset to do it, with that team (Spurs, Magic, Rockets, whoever it is) providing one along with what the Kings get back.

Nah. He and Draymond are tight. He tried to recruit him when he went to Chicago. Had him as a guest on his podcast. DeMarr has shown that he doesn’t kill you on defense if you surround him with defenders. With Dray and Wiggins, he’d be fine

You sound like Kings fans who disagreed with me this offseason.

Would have agreed with you if we were talking the Kings. Never understood why a team with a top rated offense and one of the best clutch players in Fox felt the need to add someone whose best asset is……scoring and clutch play

Looking at the Kings roster, it’s doable. They got enough small contracts like Ellis. Unfortunate that GS extended Moody and made him a poison pill. His salary fits nicely and would allow GS to keep Loon or SloMo

My bad, I saw Johnson and thought we were getting lowballed on Cam.

Deal makes more sense for the Nets depending on the draft capital.
