I think I’m overvaluing Jimmy on his expiring deal with his age and the trade request, but maybe not.

I think you are overvaluing Jimmy and I would not make this deal if I were OKC.

If Jimmy agrees to opt in and you knew you were paying for 2 playoff runs, I think it’s worth it for two deep runs and then he can go chase money..

But I agree that I don’t expect that. So I don’t think it’s worth the cost at all.

You really don't understand Jimmy at all if this is your take on him. I agree, OKC shouldn't do this but it's because they need to keep Hartenstein, not because Jimmy wouldn't fit.

I think at this point Ihart has more trade value than Butler.
I personally hate that trade for OKC. They are gelling and looking like the best team in the league and with a long window. I think the trade makes them worse. If they really want Jimmy and Ihart is in the deal they don’t have to send a first imo.

Putting aside the fact that Jimmy is inconsistent from deep, a coach killer, a bully, and someone who absolutely takes games off, OKC is better as they are. JB isn’t a superstar at 35 and his limited game is not worth killing the fit or chemistry. At this point IH is worth A LOT more than Jimmy, especially to OKC.

If I were Thunder I'd want to get Jimmy. I'm sure he'll play like MJ again against Boston lol

Read the other comments in the thread. Look at Butlers history with the Bulls, Wolves, and 76ers. When was the last time Jimmy played in Minnesota? There is a reason we call him the General. His scoring is under 20 ppg, his 3 point shooting is under 36%, and his trade demand isn’t doing the Heat any favors. What is it exactly that makes Jimmy super valuable at 50 million and age 35?

Jimmy has an absurd 65 percent true shooting percentage this year. Lots of nits you can pick, but efficiency isn’t one.

If the Heat hold onto Jimmy through the end of the year (as is looking likely), I'd be VERY interested in what an offseason deal would look like.

It's an overpay for Jimmy, who will refuse to resign in OKC anyway (or sign, then demand a trade as soon as things get tough).

Jimmy is always looking for a reason to be upset, but he's also become accustomed to living in a certain type of city (big markets with some glitz).

Butler was drafted by a big market, and they traded him to Minny. Butler lasted 1 year in Minny, before he used to various pretexts to demand a trade. His list of 4 teams was the two NY & LA teams, even though they were all bad at the time. Those teams lacked the assets, so finally a team with a big enough market that Jimmy might re-sign in was found in Philly. Butler lasted 1 year there, and went to the glamour of South Beach. While the messaging for this latest trade demand hasn't been as clear, it doesn't seem like small markets in middle America are on the list.

Think you are. Defense has been very disappointing (not surprising, he's 35!) and while he's an efficient creator the volume isn't terribly impressive

Props to the OP for not making a homer trade. I agree it's too good for Miami. If I were them I'd try to flip IHart for expiring and maybe a pick.
