Fox to Orlando

Post#1 » by Saul Goodman » Sat Dec 28, 2024 3:24 pm

I think Fox could be the missing piece to make Orlando an NBA title favourite. They have the picks and prospects to make it work.

Jonathan Isaac
Anthony Black
Jett Howard
Tristan da Silva
2025 Denver 1st
2025 Orlando 1st
2026 Phx 1st
2027 Orlando 1st

Fox/Suggs/wagner/paolo/carter

Anthony/KCP/goga

The defence would be out of this world with a top 5 offense.
2016 GMAT Blazers

Howard/Nene/
Griffin/M.Leonard/T.Jones
Porter/Marc.Morris/J.Johnson
McCollum/Stauskas/Thompson/Seldon
Lillard/Bayless/DeColo

picks have to be better, only one that looks good is that PHX 2026 IMO need to add more picks or add Suggs

magic can not afford next contract ..also cant trade the 26 pick it is a swap or cant trade 27 pick..also do not see them paying all this for a 1 yr deal for a guy that has won nothing and needs ball and all those shots to be worth that kind of money..magic still a bit away do not see all in move for this

I think the Spurs are in a better position to afford Fox and facilitate a trade than Orlando

I think Orlando should be aggressive here. They could sneak one.

Orlando cant afford Fox with Suggs, Franz and Paolo supermax. Also Fox is great but he isn't worth all that.

Fox for Suggs and the 2 2025 picks. ORL cant afford both Suggs and Fox

None of those players will be supermax eligible. Rookie max deals are 25% of the cap and Suggs is slightly below that.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

I've been bouncing a lot of Fox ideas around and I think I'm out for ORL...I'm afraid he's getting superstar consideration without the performance. If ORL trades the farm for him: 1)they'll be thin - no way I'd include all of those contributors-at least hold back da Silva and a pick 2)Fox isn't a great floor spacer so he's not a perfect fit at such a high price 3)Klutch will have ORL by the short ones when it comes to negotiating an extension after sending out so much for him...again, not a superstar...imo, he'd be the 3rd best player on the team and the gap is only likely to widen as Paolo & Franz tighten up their games. I think it'd be a real challenge to pay 4 guys so much and still field a decent team.

Having said that, if Weltman figures out a way to get it done - I'm all in. My complaints about Weltman are primarily TOO patient and TOO risk-averse, so I doubt he'd jump in to this without some way of hedging his bet. ORL would obviously be much improved with Fox added for non-starters and picks.

They should absolutely be aggressive. That defense is legit. But even with Paulo/Franz back they need more offense. Maybe Fox isn't perfect, but he's also very feasibly available whereas the perfect piece likely isn't. I don't hate the idea of it.

Guys like Sexton, Simons, McCollum might provide enough of what ORL lacks with a fraction of the trade cost, half of the salary and none of the drama.

Fox is better in a vacuum, but ORL didn't pair Suggs & KCP by accident...their POA defense is nightmarish...having a scorer/playmaker off the bench is more than enough.

Sexton to Orlando would be great.
