It appears that Brown's return to play in Toronto is imminent. Assuming he presents as at least as good as he was last year, he could be helpful to lots of teams, though finding trades that accommodate his salary is challenging. Here's one that should be beneficial to both teams.

Houston out: two of Adams/Jeff Green/Tate/Landale, 26 2nd, 27 2nd
Houston in: Brown, Fernando

Toronto out: Brown, Fernando
Toronto in: two of Adams/Jeff Green/Tate/Landale, 2 2nds as above

Houston gets a player in Brown who provides secondary ball handling, some scoring and solid defence while his expiring salary provides flexibility next year. Fernando is included to balance both rosters, while adding some nominal centre depth, and his non guaranteed minimum salary can be waived if the trade occurs before January 7th. The cost - 2 late 2nds and 2 expiring salaries playing limited minutes - is modest. Toronto gets some nominal draft capital and expiring salaries, who can provide some limited forward depth, for Brown.

assuming Brown comes back and looks playable this is the kind of Bruce Brown trade that seems feasible.

Rather just keep Adams and Landale for Houston. I would play both them ahead of Fernando. Not even sure where Brown gets minutes there when Houston is healthy.

The thing is, when healthy we don’t have any minutes open for Bruce.

Tate has been great whenever given rotation minutes as well, not sure Brown would be an upgrade. Need to upgrade the backup C spot if anything so downgrading it is also rough here.

You have Adams and Landale at backup C. Keep Adams, Bruno's #s are marginally better than Landale's in virtually identical minutes, so that should be an easy replacement. If you value Tate, send Jeff, as either works salary wise. For 2 latish 2nds, Brown will be another steady vet with championship experience who can provide solid minutes as required, whether for injury coverage, or just to reduce wear and tear on your back court. He will almost certainly provide more value than Jeff and Landale. He should be easy to resign on a significantly smaller deal next year if things work well.

Interesting. What would Detroit send back? Being $14 million under the cap, they could get away with sending out $9 million, which could be, for example, Fontecchio, at $7.6 million, plus Moore or Sasser.

To parrot what other Pistons fans are likely to say, we probably want to leverage that cap space into greater value. I like BB more than most, I imagine, but even I wouldn’t just let him take all of our cap space.

#34 + #36 for #22 feels a bit light, but Fontecchio can shoot and replace some of the Wagner shooting.

I feel like Detroit can do better for taking on 14M in expiring salary. Some team out there has to need to dump some money to make a trade work.

Bruce Brown first needs to show that he has 2 working knees, and not just one. He hasn't been healthy on the court for a little over a year, and until he shows he can play at his 2020-2023 level, no team will trade for him

But I've been a Bruce Brown fan since his rookie season, and I do like the idea of Brown on the Pistons if we are in the play-in. However, getting Brown should o be "step 2" after "step 1" of using the $14M in cap space to get a significant asset, either a good young front-court player or a FRP.

If DET has used up its cap space and Brown is healthy, a Brown for THJ+SRP deal makes a lot of sense.
