Thibs gets his Butler. NYK, MIA, DET

Knicks
trade OG, Mitch Robinson, Miles McBride, Cam Payne.
Get
Butler, Ware, Burks, 2 SRP via pistons

Rationale: Thibs loves him some Jimmy (even if it's unrequited) and Butler/towns had some success in the past. Ware has shown some promise, Thibs loves Burks, and Rose loves to play with his SRP.

Heat
Trade Butler, Ware, Burks, Jaquez
Get
OG Anunoby, Robinson, McBride, Payne
Heat probably feel like they have a good offensive punch with Herro, Rozier, Bam. These guys bring in two way players who have proven to win when it matters. OG has his contract, so that's one less thing to worry about.

Pistons
trade 2 SRP
get Jaime Jaquez
Pistons are now competitive, Jaquez is a good ball player and will fit in well.

There aren't enough cuss words to tell you how much I dislike this for Miami. There is no way we give up Ware and Jacquez along with Jimmy. And why is JJJ only worth two second rounders?

This is a pass until you take out the kids.

I don’t think NY should give up OG for Butler. If anything, NY just needs injury protection and depth. OG is the better defender right now, and NY already has Brunson and KAT.

But also, JJaquez is worth more than some cap and 2nds. And Miami shouldn’t be dealing Ware and JJJ with Butler.

For context, I'm a Knicks fan who thinks the team is a pretender.

The argument for making this kind of trade is that your upside with Jimmy is higher than that with OG, even if the window is shorter.

The argument for what the Knicks did this summer was give yourself 4 years of having a top-4 team in the conference and hope that one year things line up and you have a run. The problem is you paid a championship price for a non championship team. At least the best version of Butler makes you a contender.

I’d love to get Jaquez, but he’s worth more than this.

Pistons would say yes and then block everyone's numbers after just in case. But there's no universe where Jaquez would be sold for so little.

But the best version of Butler left about 3 years ago.

Usually I’m responding to Detroit trades w a comment that we are getting screwed. This trade? We got it too good. But w our cap space, we will get some good deal before the deadline.
