Grayson to Orlando

Suns receive Cole Anthony, DEN 2025 1st (via ORL), DET 2026 2nd (via ORL)
Magic receive Grayson Allen

Suns get a young PG and draft capital for a future trade (possibly Butler).

Magic get much needed shooting help as the worst team in the NBA from three.

i wonder if Orlando would prefer Tyus Jones instead if they were to target someone from Phoenix

Grayson Allen is a much better two-way player. Ty Jones is a good backup, which while better than the bad backup the Magic are currently playing, isn't really a post season answer to anything.

they need a PG more than another SG imo.

Yeah, I like Allen and think he deserves to start on most teams, but if I am ORL I am looking for a PG to pair with Suggs in the starting line-up, which sends Allen to the bench.

Sending out 2 FRPs and committing to roughly 10% of the salary cap for Allen as a bench player is a lot for ORL considering they are 1.5 years away from Paolo getting a well-deserved max extension. ORL needs to save their dry powder to address the PG position

I mean Fultz is still out there and they don't need to surrender a 1st for him. Allen is just a better player than Jones. The Suns only take back Anthony for the 1st so they have a second 1st to trade.

Suns only getting 1 FRP in the OP and it’s from Denver. I think ideally Allen is a sixth man and his contract fits that spot on the roster. The need for a full time starting true PG will recede once Palo and Franz are back. They desperately need shooters and Allen is one of the best.

They have their own 31 first, which they'll need to move Beal, and this trade would presumably give them one to ship to the Heat.

Can 2nd apron teams trade minimum contracts for just a pick or does salary have to come back?

So long as they can take back less than they send out, it's legal. The problem is that with the cap hold for the roster spot, trading league minimum guys doesn't really save much money.

I think a Grayson/Tyus combo combined could net a 1st (two separate deals officially). Thing with Tyus is he’d have to be traded for another minimum player or player on a rookie 2nd rd contract.

I get what you’re saying. I was responding to Old. Magic only giving up a single first.

I like Grayson and his defensive demeanor will fit well with this current iteration of the Magic, but similar caliber players have gone for second round picks and that’s my only concern here.

Anthony/Houstan + 3 SRP’s for Allen is the extent I would do.

DFS fetched expirings and 2nds. Anthony is negative filler and thus should cost more

Grayson Allen is much better than DFS, and he's locked up on a team friendly contract. He's worth the Denver 1st.

If Phoenix is up for it, Orlando should definitely accept. He's a perfect complimentary piece for the team.

The Suns only do this if they get that 1st for a bigger move IMO. Unless the Heat are super high on Houstan and view him as an acceptable substitute, they look elsewhere.

I mean there is zero value for the Suns in that offer. Allen is a good NBA player.

100%…Tyus as a backup makes a lot more sense. Problem is his one year charity deal that he signed, ostensibly, for a starting role on a cash-strapped contender. I would assume with an understanding that he’d get the “real” contract this summer…he wouldn’t start in ORL and either would Grayson (and 2 yrs at 18m is too much for that)
