Warriors, Blazers, Nets

ESPN has this as legal, not sure if that's real or not...
update: not legal, so I will make changes and highlight with strike through and bold additions

Warriors trade Wiggins, Looney,Schroder, Anderson, Kuminga +GP and ATL SRP
get Ayton, Cam Johnson, Sharpe, Johnson(Keon).

*Disclaimer - I don't have a good feel for Kuminga trade value, I have he and Johnson both valued at 1 FRP for now, so that's the value in that swap. If this value is off, we can revisit with a FRP from GS to BKN added, but since I don't know, I didn't want to create an uproar.

Rationale: Warriors finally get back to a traditional lineup and one with appropriate weapons.
Curry-Buddy-Cam-Green-Ayton. Bench of Podz, Sharpe, TJD, Moody.

Blazers trade Ayton, get Wiggins, Looney
Rationale: Wiggins plays more of a position of need, is a more easy-to-move position. Sort of a hot/cold type player, but can fit in next to the pieces Blazers are building around. Allows Clingan to start, Williams, Looney, Reath all can factor in as needed. Assuming williams will be traded, but having two rim erasers isn't a bad thing.

Nets trade 2xjohnsons (Cam, Keon) and Sharpe. Get Schroder, SloMo, Kuminga +GP and ATL SRP
Rationale: Kuminga is the prize here, Nets can unleash him and see what he can be without fear of benching. other two pieces can be made available in future trades. Could see these pieces appealing to Miami or PHX as they go through the re-tool.

GS can't trade Schroeder until right at the deadline, and then can't trade him back to the Nets. Just remaking half the roster late in the season is likely to make the team worse from the extended adjustment period - plus they've added Ayton.

Yup, trusted the ESPN checker because fanspo was taking too long. Mistake. lesson learned. Changes made, but still point taken. All-star break is usually a decent window to acclimate new talent though.

The Warriors are right up against their hard cap (330k), but this trade has them taking in almost $3M more than they're sending out. That's without even considering Cam Johnson's unlikely incentives, which would add another $3.5M to their Apron salary.

Not taking on those extra years of Wiggins without some legit incentive.

Ayton isnt a winner but he is expiring sooner. Neither Ayton or Wiggins are long-term guys for Portland, so you keep the one that expires sooner.

Zero interest in this from GS. Ayton is not a winning player and the antithesis of what we look for in a center. I'd rather have Looney straight up.

Portland can't chance that Wiggins picks up his player option for an extra year at $30M without an incentive. None of the players going in or out for Portland factor into the long term equation, so the smaller contract of Ayton is preferred to Wiggins. Also, even though this reduces the log jam at center, it creates a log jam at forward, so it doesn't even really solve anything in terms of roster balance.

In theory this is good for Portland because Wiggins is having a great season and on his current contract he's positive value. That said, I wouldn't do it unless Portland had a plan to immediately flip him. I worry about Wiggins' motivation and work ethic on a losing team, and his shooting stats when Curry isn't drawing defensive attention. There's a good chance his value deteriorates very quickly in Portland. I'd rather have an expiring Ayton next season then risk it on Wiggins.

Also can't see the Warriors doing this. Ayton is not the type of Center Kerr has ever wanted and he's expensive. I'd also just rather have Wiggins than Cam Johnson given Wiggins good play this year and his defensive/rebounding ability when he's locked-in.

Ayton is not the type of center anyone wants.

All 3 decline. BRK doesn't want to receive Kuminga as the main return for Cam Johnson (GSW doesn't want to give him in this exchange, anyway). GSW doesn't want a traditional big like DominAyton. And POR doesn't need Wiggins, they have Deni, Jerami and Toumani.

BK would politely decline as they could get much more on the market and are looking at stacking 1sts in 2026 and 2027 or 2028 for CamJo plus a promising player. This does not fully fit their plans for the future.
