Pistons, Heat, Suns

Post#1 » by louc1970 » Tue Jan 7, 2025 5:53 pm

Detroit trades Stewart, Hardaway
Detroit receives Beal, 2 SRPs (Suns), 1 SRP (Heat)
Detroit needs to receive some salary to get off the floor. They make this trade to 1) get salary on the books, and 2) making a promise to Beal to trade him in the off season.

Phoenix trades Beal, 2 SRPs
Phoenix receives Butler
Butler with Booker, Durant help the team improve. May not be enough so may have to include a 3 SRP or even a FRP (if available).

Miami trades Butler, SRP
Miami receives Stewart, Hardaway
Miami not wanting much in the idea of long term money coming back see the value in a back-up center/PF who can the 3 (low shots/good percentage). Hardaway expires. Might even be willing to take on more expiring money if Detroit desires.
Low return for Butler, but it solves the issues and cleans up the team drama.

Detroint doesn't need salary to get to the floor, they already did.
I'm in the minority that thinks this deal helps the Pistons, if Butler isn't willing to go there, if he is, then they should trade for butler directly.
Pistons are almost good, they are very young and could use some veteran scoring.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Good lord no.

You have us PAYING to acquire Beal. That’s just ridiculous.

You would have to turn those 2nds headed to detroit into 1sts to get them to pick up the phone.

So we’re taking on Beal who the Heat don’t want and we’re giving up the value the Heat get for Butler?

No thanks…

Dont see Beal or Detroit agreeing to this

I don’t think Miami or Det do this.

And Phoenix only really has the ability to fix it for one team.

Zero reason for Detroit not to cut the Suns out and deal with the Heat directly if this type of return would net Butler.

Actually, there is a really big reason. Butler. You see how he looks when he doesn't want to be someplace. He's not coming to detroit and playing the good soldier.

I made that argument as well. Beal fits pretty well both as a starting shooting guard for the rest of this year and next and as a salary ballast in a big trade in the last year of his deal. Plus they get draft capital. Really doubt he waives his NTC for Detroit tho.

Beal fits okay in Detroit, but not to the tune of 50 plus mill per year.

He’s being treated as a neutral to slightly positive asset here. And he’s not. Only the Suns would want this trade. The Heat will likely have to take an uninspiring package, possibly like this one, at some point. The Pistons have no need for it.

Detroit is a winning sports town, so you never know. But I'd take him over Beal at any rate. Prefer not to trade for either, though.

The only way I see Beal ending up in Detroit, is if at least two first round picks are included, and there is no universe your going to get Stewart as well in this package, without an additional first round pick.

That is obviously impossible, so its a moot point.

Not sure why Beef Stew is worth a first but it is most likely a moot point because Beal isn’t waiving his NTC to go to Detroit.

Stewart is elite in his defense at the rim. Good rebounder, can stretch the floor, and sets killer screens, all at 15 per. Not to mention he will protect his teammates.

Thats the very definition of a 1st.
