SAS/BRK

Nets trade Cam Johnson, worst of BRK/MIL/NY/HOU 2025 1sts (currently #27)
Spurs trade Zach Collins, better of SAS/ATL 2025 1sts top 8 protected (currently #13)

Brooklyn commits further to the tank and cashes in on Cam Johnson's career year to move up in next year's draft. It pulls the Nets well out of the luxury tax as well (though they can do that easier ways, they're only 175k over)
Spurs add a well-fitting forward who can play both ways. CP3/Vassell/Barnes/Johnson/Wemby + Jones/Castle/Champagnie/Johnson/Sochan/Bassey

I am confused here. Why would BK do this? Is Zach Collins better than CamJo? Let's pretend BK moves up 6 spots with this trade. Wouldn't it not be worth it for them? I do not know enough about Zach Collins. But, is he not a bench player who has averaged a career best 11 PPG?

With protection on the SAS/ATL pick, there is no juice to squeeze, Nets have 4 1sts in the draft, they can use them to move up.

I can see if this were a potential Top 3 pick in this year's draft or next. But, the math just doesn't math here for BK.

If the better of SAS / ATL ends up in the top 8 do the Nets get the lesser of the two or does this asset get punted into a future year / draft?

Probably Nets pass, but I wouldn't give up one of the last high picks Spurs will have for a slightly better Harrison Barnes.

Riiiiight, like anyone would trade a top 3 pick in this draft or next for Cam Johnson

A chance at it. This is zero chance. If there was a 20% chance which would mean 80% and overwhelming no, then it might be a tight trade to turn down. But, this trade is 100% not in BK's best interest in anyway (talent is not even close and moving up a few spots in this at the end of the 1st round when they have 4 picks already... is essentially meaningless).

Neither team does it.

Nope, young teams are not giving up even a slight chance at a top pick. CamJ top market value is likely two lottery protected picks from a good team. The Nets can choose to take that or not, but if you think teams are going to give up lottery balls then you are really not living in reality.

The Nets would likely need a much better player than Collins and 2 1sts or Collins and another okay player with a chance at a Top 5 pick in one pick that is a gamble.

Well, they're not getting that, so good luck with Johnson... You MIGHT get a Top 8 protected pick (Johnson was drafted 11th, FWIW...) and if you get that in 1 of the next 2 drafts, I'd take it and run. NO ONE is giving you a realistic CHANCE at 2 lottery picks for Johnson, it's just not a thing... The cost on the OTHER end (bad contracts for multiple years) for Johnson to get you passable chances at 2 lottery picks would just not be worth it. But sure, hold onto him if you wish. The market isn't coming to meet you any time soon. "Nets need more", I understand COMPLETELY THAT viewpoint...

I think you got confused. Re-read what was wrote. No one said two lottery picks. It would be one potential lottery pick or two protected (which are likely 23-30).
